Currently, they're seeking a brewer to join them. 


Job Description: Brewer

Reports to: Head Brewer

Responsibilities:

The Brewer will be responsible for ensuring the safe and high-quality production of our beers from start to finish. Key responsibilities include:

Packaging:

  • Conducting CIP of equipment
  • Operating the can filler and labeller
  • Managing casual labour
  • General warehousing duties
  • Conducting line changeover
  • Data entry and record keeping
  • Stocktaking
  • General maintenance
  • Maintaining hygiene standards

Brewing:

  • Conducting milling
  • Operating the brewhouse
  • Allocating malt and preparing raw materials
  • Managing spent grain
  • Conducting brewhouse CIP
  • Data entry and record keeping

Cellaring:

  • Operating the centrifuge
  • Pitching and handling yeast
  • Dry hopping
  • Conducting CIP of brewery vessels and equipment
  • Maintaining hygiene standards
  • Data entry and record keeping
  • Managing stakeholders
  • Operating the effluent plant

Safety:

  • Reporting all incidents and near misses to the Head Brewer within 24 hours
  • Adhering to safety directives set by the management team
  • Participating or leading problem-solving and improvement
  • Containing active hazards when reasonably practicable
  • Ensuring that personal protective equipment is in good working order
  • Completing assigned workplace inspections and risk assessments

Quality Control:

  • Performing all QC checks in line with Hawkers' quality plan
  • Keeping accurate records of results
  • Escalating non-conformance
  • Rectifying non-conformance to the level allowed in role and experience
  • Participating in problem-solving and sensory analysis

Production:

  • Delivering the production plan
  • Providing feedback on scheduling
  • Aiding inter-departmentally when necessary

Reporting:

  • Escalating risk to production plan attainment
  • Reporting on excessive loss/waste
  • Detailing any deviation from the normal process
  • Completing handovers to the team and management

Requirements:

  • Experience in brewing or related field
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to problem-solve and think critically
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong commitment to safety and quality
