Milton Common is a busy, multifaceted venue that's home to Common Ground Brewing and a distillery, and hosts a diverse range of events throughout the year.

They're looking to hire a hospo gun to run the venue and oversee events.


JOB DESCRIPTION: Venue manager and events coordinator

Milton Common is looking for a new venue manager and events coordinator. We are a small brewpub located in the heart of Milton. We are growing at a rapid pace with many different business arms including a brewery, distillery, private functions and public events space, and retail. 

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong leadership experience and people management skills who is excited to take on the responsibility of running our busy venue and coordinating our private functions and in-house events. We’re looking for someone who is organised, hard-working, confident, people-focused and who wants to positively contribute and impact the future direction of this growing company and brand.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Running day-to-day operations of the venue, including FOH and BOH
  • Managing staff rosters, wage budgets, staff training, recruitment and performance reviews
  • Managing end-of-day banking, stock purchasing and in-house finances 
  • Ensuring policies and procedures are being executed including uniforms, staff morale and performance 
  • Monitoring sales, margins, expenses and general budgets
  • Working closely with the business owner, head chef, head brewer and in-house sales rep 
  • Delivering a high standard of customer service and customer satisfaction
  • Plan, organise and execute in-house events such as gin tastings, new beer releases, merch drops and annual social events
  • Managing private functions, including the planning, organising, decorating, set up and pack down, menu and drinks packages etc
  • Working closely with the social media team to provide content and assist in social media direction
  • Managing venue stock levels 
  • Supporting the management of our marketing/function’s personnel to maximise and grow both food and drink operations

Previous cocktail and hospitality experience is required. Experience in Mailchimp, Xero, Excel and Canva is preferred. This is a full-time role that requires flexibility to work both night and weekend shifts. You must hold a current RLMV and have full working rights to work in Australia. Driver’s license preferred.
