Job Description: Senior Brewer / Brewery Manager
About us & the role:
Sauce Brewing Co is an iconic brewery in the heart of the Inner West Ale Trail, Marrickville Sydney.
We're a small team of passionate people, producing a solid core range of beers and RTD cocktails, with a regular special batch program. Our taproom and beer garden is the place to be on a sunny day!
We've recently re-organised our production facility, and now produce packaged beer offsite at another brewery. Our Marrickville brewery and brewpub continues to produce our kegged beer.
We're looking for a senior brewer with great organisational skills, to brew our kegged beer onsite, and coordinate the offsite production of packaged beer.
The successful candidate will be highly experienced, with a focus on quality, consistency, processes, and innovation.
This role reports directly to the CEO, and is available to start in Feb-March 2025.
What’s involved:
- Beer and alcoholic beverage production
- Operation of brewhouse and cellar
- Packaging finished product into kegs
- Collaborative Recipe Development
- Assisting with forecasting
- Purchasing of ingredients, materials and consumables
- Operation of brewery management software
- Ensuring a high level of quality and performing quality control and maintenance tasks
- Working closely with other people in the business
- Collaborate with suppliers
- Representing the business both inside and outside the brewery (e.g. events)
Minimum Skills Required
- Minimum three years’ experience in a hands-on brewing role
- Experience with production planning and inventory management
- Up-to-date knowledge of beer styles, brewing techniques, traditions and trends
- Creative and able to develop new and innovative recipes
- Sensory evaluation
- Attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with others
- Ability to apply knowledge in a practical, commercial manner
- Work independently or with others
- Highly organised, diligent and responsible, able to multi-task, prioritise and self-manage
- Practical with a hands-on “can do” attitude
- Forklift license, driver’s license, and RSA
Preferable Skills
- Formal brewing qualification (IBD Diploma, Cert III/IV or equivalent)
- Experience with Beer30 or similar brewery management software
You must have permanent full-time work rights in Australia for this role.
