Colonial Brewing Co has breweries on either side of the country and has has received plenty of attention and accolades in recent years.

Now the operation needs a new brewer to join the team in Margaret River – one who preferably has some previous experience in sheep herding.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: BREWER – MARGARET RIVER

Colonial Brewing Co are currently seeking applicants for a third brewer at our Margaret River brewery, to join our dedicated, talented and award-winning brewing team. The role is a 40 hour per week, full time job.

The hours will be within 6am - 7pm Monday to Friday, with weekend work at events when required. This role reports to Margaret River’s Lead Brewer, and Colonial’s Head of Brewing.

Responsibilities are shared amongst the team and include:

  • Managing stock movements to and from the brewery with the forklift & tractor
  • Operating our 25hL 3 vessel brew house, from milling through to wort cooling & yeast handling
  • Fermentation management & dry-hopping
  • Filtration and bright beer preparation
  • Tank & equipment CIP
  • Keg cleaning & filling
  • Operating & troubleshooting our automated cask canning line
  • Herding sheep back home when they escape from the paddock next door
  • Looking after the brewery & utilities, to ensure fault-free operation
  • Enjoying a beer with the team after a day of brewing
  • Getting involved with beer festivals and other events

CBCO are looking for an experienced brewer with a year or more experience brewing commercially or performing comparable duties in the wider food/beverage industry.

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Reasonable IT literacy
  • A safety-first attitude
  • Strong attention & commitment to the finer details
  • A desire to learn, and work on improvement ideas with the team
  • Machinery troubleshooting experience

A science/engineering tertiary education would be a significant advantage but not strictly required. We’d also consider a plumber/electrician/fitter who is keen to learn brewing whilst helping us maintain and improve the brewery in the meantime.

Remuneration will be based on experience & skills. We can offer short term accommodation on the property if required while you settle into Margaret River. If this role interests you and you have the skills required, please apply to Ashley.Hazell@colonialbrewingco.com.au.

Applications close on Sunday, November 5.
