Otherside Brewing Has Three Jobs Up For Grabs

Posted February 21, 2018

This posting is more than 1 year old

Western Australia’s Otherside Brewing is ready to move beyond its gypsy origins and put down its own stainless steel roots.

But in order to grow, the team is looking for more staff. Quite a few more staff in fact, they've got three jobs up for grabs and here's what you need to know about them all.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: ASSISTANT BREWER

After 18 months as a gypsy operation we are building a brewery - in sunny Myaree, Western Australia. The new 4 vessel 20HL production brewery will allow us to brew, package and store onsite – yep, it is a big space.

So, as you could imagine, with our own brewing location, orders coming in thick and fast and new recipes going out we are building our team. This is an opportunity to be in on the ground floor of a new and fast-growing beer brand.

We have an amazing head Brewer and now we need an Assistant Brewer. You maybe.

Working alongside our Head Brewer and our tight-knit production team, you will initially be responsible for hygiene, packaging and a variety of other support roles, eventually progressing to wort production and filtration and more.

The person we are looking for would ideally display:

  • Experience and passion for quality beer
  • An eye for detail
  • An almost disturbing infatuation with cleaning
  • Dedication to quality assurance
  • A firm grasp of the scientific method
  • Great at communicating
  • Reliable
  • Super keen
  • Be comfortable working in a dynamic and energetic environment.
  • Oh, and a forklift licence would be a bonus.

Please email a copy of your CV to rhys@othersidebrewing.com.au.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: CELLAR DOOR MANAGER

Our new brewery will include a cellar door. We have ambitious plans to build a stable of brands and so, naturally, the cellar door is super-duper important to us (and the success of the brewery), so we need someone really good to manage it.

You’ll have the opportunity to assist with the fitout and set up and commissioning of the bar. Working under strategic direction from the Directors and the Brand and Communications team, you will be responsible for a range of jobs, including:

  • Designing and implementing management systems
  • Attending to the efficient running of the cellar door
  • Driving a positive customer service experience
  • Recruiting, inducting and training casual staff
  • Liaising closely with the Events Coordinator regarding functions
  • Adherence reporting to compliance and legislative matters
  • Managing the venue budget
  • Product pricing, stock taking and inventory management.
  • Researching new clients
  • Making cold calls
  • Setting appointments
  • On the road sales calls
  • Hitting KPIs, managing relationships
  • Off and on-premise promotion
  • Nights and weekend tasting events when required.

You would also be required to manage the venue upkeep, organize and direct contractors, source and manage food trucks and bar snack food, oversee stock controls, merchandise sales, “Buy A Bit” and subscriber point of sale. Phew!

The person we are looking for would be, ideally:

  • Passionate and positive
  • Independent and self-motivated
  • Able and enthusiastic
  • Personable and approachable
  • Organised and methodical
  • An all-round legend in Cellar Door stuff

We'd like you to be from a hospitality background, with venue management experience and strong business and leadership skills. You will be comfortable working in a dynamic environment, and while needing to be very collaborative, also more than capable in taking the lead where needed.  You’ll need a competent knowledge of storing and serving craft beer and have a solid understanding of beer taste, flavours, ingredients and our brewing process.

Please email your CV to accounts@othersidebrewing.com.au.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: SALES REPRESENTATIVE

The final role we’d like filling for now is for a full-time Sales Representative. You will be responsible for helping us expand to the next level in record time.

Daily tasks will involve but not limited to:

  • Researching new clients
  • Making cold calls
  • Setting appointments
  • On the road sales calls
  • Hitting KPIs, managing relationships
  • Off and on-premise promotion
  • Nights and weekend tasting events when required.

This is a great foot in the door role for some who is passionate about craft beer but also wants to become an excellent sales person.

We are not just looking for a beer nerd and we are not just looking for a sales person.  We want both!  Ideally, we want someone with some previous sales experience that is also interested in craft beer.

You will have:

  • Two years’ sale experience
  • Previous experience within the liquor industry
  • Proven track record of sales excellence
  • The aptitude to learn new things
  • A can-do attitude
  • Some craft beer knowledge
  • A full driver’s license
  • A reliable car
  • Organization, this is a very busy role working from multiple sites.
  • Good time management and admin skills are essential
  • Initiative, you will need it because there is a lot of thinking on the run when opportunities present themselves
  • Excellent social, verbal and written communication skills
  • Someone who represents our brand in the right manner

For the right candidate, we will offer:

  • In depth sales training. This will bring you up to the level of an accomplished sales person
  • Beer knowledge training by a Certified Cicerone and brewery staff. We will encourage and help you to become a Cicerone too
  • Car allowance
  • Competitive Salary
  • Bonus structure

We are looking for the right mix of all the above and can fill in the blanks for the right person.  This is a very busy role and not for the fainthearted, if you believe you have what it takes to become a great sales person then we want to hear from you.

The training you will receive will see you rise to the industry’s best.  We are passionate about our brewery, staff and the industry and want you to be the same.
