Like bands? Love beer and brewing? Then Newtown based brewery Young Henrys might have just the job for you.

Currently, they're looking to add another member to the ranks of their brew crew so, if that sounds like your dream job, keep reading.

Job Description: Brewer

Get out your favourite black band t-shirt, this could be your chance to join the most vibrant and growing brewery in Sydney’s inner west! Here at Young Henrys we're looking for people to join our Newtown brew crew, and for this intake we need folk who have some experience. Already working in the industry and looking for a change, or pursuing brewing education? We want to hear from you.

If you fit that bill you already know brewing isn’t just about standing around looking cool, comparing tattoos and discussing possible unintended over attenuation from dry hopping. There’s a lot of work, both physical and mental, that go into making our favourite frothies and being a tight knit team at Young Henrys we all rely heavily on one another to get things done.

There are a few aspects of our process that are different to other breweries and even with a background in brewing it will take a bit of training to wrap your head around them all. A little while ago we restructured our training program so everyone in our brewing team learns every facet of production and can clearly see their progression, from fermentation management and cellarwork to CIP regimes and filtration all the way to brewhouse operation and wort production. At the end of it, you’ll be able to do any task in the brewery, and this goes a long way to keeping things interesting; you won’t get stuck doing the same job every day. In addition to this, our brewers get the opportunity to flex their creative muscles with their own beers, collaboration and R&D projects throughout the year, and everyone in the team is encouraged to be a part of this.

If you are considering applying, you’ll need to work as a solid part of our team (that’s probably clear already?), follow direction, work safely, show initiative and ensure your own tasks are on track. Multitasking and good time management are essential skills. (Just telling me that you’re good at these things is not as convincing as being able to give me some examples...)

Our brewery is hands on with hoses to run, pumps to set up/breakdown and malt bags to lift so you’ll need to be physically fit. We’re looking for someone who is reliable, adaptable, calm, can communicate clearly, be straightforward and has a sense of humour.

We currently operate seven days a week, so some weekend shifts may form part of the role.

The Young Henrys crew are like family, we don’t just work together we hang out together and are very proud of our beer. If you want to build a long term career with a growing Australian company this is your chance.

Send your CV or Resume along with a cover letter outlining what you’d bring to Young Henrys to jobs@younghenrys.com and we’ll take it from there. It doesn’t have to be long, just let me know what your favourite bands are....

Close of application date is September 7, 2018.
