The team at Newtown-based Young Henrys is well known for its love of a good time as well as brewing some pretty unusual beers. You can read about their recent foray into brewing one beer using hemp by heading here.

If you're an experienced brewer who'd like to join them, currently they're looking to add another member to the brew crew.

Job Description: Experienced Brewer

Here at Young Henrys we're looking for an experienced brewer to join our Newtown brew crew. We’re looking for someone who has commercial brewing experience, we love and encourage homebrewers but this time around we need a solid legend with some industry brews under their belt.

Our brewers are all rounders so the successful candidate will be competent across all facets from brewhouse, cellar, and filtration to laboratory work and packaging. We will consider someone who ticks most of these boxes rather than all, provided they can demonstrate a fast learning curve.

Educationally you will need to have an IBD General Certificate, Graduate Certificate or equivalent. We need someone with a solid academic background alongside a consistent work record.

You’ll need to have proven leadership skills, able to give team direction and ensure tasks are on track. Our ideal brewer will demonstrate good problem solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing environments and plans as well. We’re looking for someone who can be calm, communicate clearly, be straightford and with a sense of humour! (At least laugh at Graeme’s jokes)

Our brewery is still pretty hands on with hoses to run, pumps to set up/breakdown and malt bags to lift so you’ll need to be physically fit. Multitasking and good time management are essential skills.

Some experience in recipe creation would also be a benefit, show us what you’ve done!

Young Henrys are committed to producing a consistent and quality product and as such have pretty rigorous process protocols, not only do these need to be adhered to but we always look for ways to improve and streamline these processes.

We currently operate 7 days a week, so some weekend shifts will be a necessary part of the role.

The Young Henrys crew are like family, we don’t just work together we hang out together and are very proud of our beer. If you want to build a long term career with a growing Australian company this is your chance.

Send your CV or Resume along with a cover letter outlining what you’d bring to Young Henrys to jobs@younghenrys.com and we’ll take it from there!
