JOB DESCRIPTION: BREWER
Garage Project is a small Wellington brewery with the lofty goal of changing beer forever. Based out of an old petrol station, we love pushing boundaries and challenging the notions of what beer can be. Our team of Garagistas work across multiple locations, cities and now countries to deliver unique and memorable experiences working towards that goal of changing beer forever. Our team at Garage Project love brewing at a prolific rate and nothing excites us more than challenging people’s perceptions of what beer can be.
The role:
We’re seeking a seasoned brewer to join our tight-knit team in a full-time, permanent capacity. For the right person, we’re offering a generous salary, awesome staff benefits and a great group of people to work with, along with the opportunity to join NZ’s champion brewery.
Our brewers take an active role in all aspects of production and packaging at Garage Project - working as part of a dynamic team to follow best practice in the production of exceptional beer. Our Brewers pay rigorous attention to all aspects of quality control, keeping accurate up-to-date records and maintaining a clean and safe working environment, to ensure a quality end product for our expanding fan base.
The role will involve cellar work and the safe handling of product, all aspects of brewing the product, and providing support across the production process including packaging.
About you:
You not only have an infectiously positive attitude, you're also a brewer with a significant amount of experience in the brewing industry, having worked at a few different commercial breweries. You can demonstrate a clear understanding of the entire brewing process, from fermentation and cellaring, to stock monitoring, brewing to recipes, keeping a clean environment and everything in between. You’re a technical whizz and love a complicated recipe.
In particular, you will need to demonstrate:
- A good knowledge of brewing on kits 20HL or more, centrifuging using Alfa Laval Brew 250, and packaging, with at least 3 years professional brewery experience.
- Brewing industry qualifications are a bonus, as is experience within a technical environment.
- A good level of understanding in using lab equipment, especially Anton-Paar DMA 35, Alex 500, C-BoxQC At-line.
- A clear understanding of key quality and spoilage issues in beer
- A level of strength & stamina appropriate to the rigorousness of the role
- NZ Forklift License
- Current, clean NZ driver's licence
