Job Description: Brewer

The people who work at Beerfarm, own Beerfarm; it’s built on grit, determination and the desire to do better and have a good time doing it. To put it simply: We produce and sell beer and cider, which is fast gaining attention and a strong following, from our sustainable farm in Metricup, WA. So in essence, we are a farm, a brewery, a hospitality venue run by the farmily of 30+ people, coming together for good times and great outcomes.

About This Role

The brewer reports to the Beerfarmer and is based at our Metricup brewery.  In many ways, you’ll be a jack or jill of all things brewing in this role, but some of your key tasks will include: 

Brewing 

  • Being a bloody good human
  • Reaching and exceeding the companies volume targets 
  • Contributing to Beerfarm’s focus on delivering unique and creative new products and recipes
  • Meeting product specifications relating to Beerfarm product range during the brewing process  
  • Following company policies, procedures and specification throughout the brewing process 
  • CIP and general housekeeping standards implemented throughout all brewery tasks 
  • Following brewery schedule to meet the demands of the production schedule 
  • Shift brewing and the flexibility to fulfill rosters
  • Assisting in the management of all maintenance and servicing requirements of all brewery equipment   
  • Following company policies, procedures and specification throughout the brewing process 
  • Reaching and exceeding the companies volume targets 
  • Good market trend and industry knowledge advantageous

Packaging

  • Cleaning & Filling of kegs
  • Quality control of products, including routing checks, fault identification and meeting product specifications
  • Routine data entry into necessary platforms 

General 

  • Although not the 'face' of the brand, the brewer will need be required to represent the Beerfarm at festivals and beer launches. Public speaking and social media skills are advantageous 
  • Sensory analysis and review
  • Maintenance of yeast health, lab responsibilities and daily checks 
  • Assist venue manager in beer education sessions to other staff

About You

If you’re the one for this role, you will be a true beer connoisseur who is able to display the highest levels of quality of brewing experience and come with at least 3 years’ experience in commercial brewing. You won’t make it if you’re not hands on in your approach to creating great beers.

Crucially, we are not just looking for a placeholder in this role, we want you to get passionately involved with the industry and our local area, as well as the product and service we offer. You will have free reign to examine and re-engineer operations and procedures in line with the brew crew.

You’ll be the sort of person who has an influential, high-energy personality, killer time management and organisation skills and a genuine track record of being an exceptional brewer and customer advocate in your previous roles and experience using EKOS brewmaster will be an advantage.
