Range are much-loved members of Brisbane's brewing community and recently announced they're planning to open a home in Melbourne's inner north.

Job Description: Packaging Lead

Take full responsibility for leading our small packaging team and meet Range Brewing’s quality and packaging targets as the company grows.

The packaging lead responsibilities at Range Brewing will involve:

  • Developing a packaging schedule to meet inventory requirements with the head brewer and key staff
  • Working in the brewery cellar, ensuring correct centrifugation is performed to hit both sensory and quality targets and to ensure the product is ready for packaging
  • Filter, keg, package and clean kegs as needed
  • Ensuring all packaging activities, volumes and quantities have been recorded appropriately in brewery management software and brew logs on a daily basis
  • Quality control management through engagement with quality assurance activities and projects; works along with quality control to ensure products meet quality assurance specifications and standards
  • Packaging line maintenance including equipment maintenance, troubleshooting problems that arise and repair as needed
  • Use proper CIP procedures to clean and sanitize packaging equipment; maintain a clean and organized brewery workspace
  • Ensuring stock is correctly packed
  • Maintaining the use of Standard Operating Procedures to ensure all aspects of beer roduction and packaging align with safety, sanitary and quality protocols while allowing for process improvement and workflow efficiency
  • Regular communications to appropriate personnel regarding production schedules, new releases, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

This role requires:

  • Minimum of one year experience running a bottling and/or canning line.
  • One year of proven production experience, preferably in a brewery producing 3,000+
  • hL/year.
  • Understanding of how different styles react when packaging.
  • Ability to work independently as well as autonomously assisting the key member of the brewery team
  • The maintenance of high standards
  • Good software skills
  • An inquisitive mind and a preference for prevention rather than cure
  • Physical capabilities required for the role include but are not limited to the ability to work in wet and/or humid conditions; extreme heat; ability to frequently lift and/or move 30kgs ; ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb
  • A good understanding of the wider business environment (sales, marketing and customers)
  • The flexibility to assist particular teams with high-priority tasks as needed
  • Fluent written and spoken English; the ability to write articulately and succinctly
