Aether Brewing's HQ is in the Brisbane suburb of Northgate where they operate as not just a production brewery but a community hub too.

Job Description: Assistant Brewer

Aether Brewing is a multi-award winning, family-owned and run brewery in the north of Brisbane. And we are delighted to offer an exceptional, exciting opportunity for a young individual to come and join our brewing team. We don’t expect you to have experience, but we do expect you to want to learn and grow to be the best!

As a full-time Junior Assistant Brewer, you will be involved in all parts of the beer production process as well as all packaging and warehouse operations. Please note that this is an entry level role with room to grow and advance as you gain experience. 

It is important that you enjoy handy work, cleaning and that you are prepared to do a job which may be physically challenging with heavy lifting at times. Brewery life is demanding, and may require you to be flexible in hours but in return when we can, we will do the same.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the brewing process from milling to packaging and ensuring all brewing processes are recorded properly. 
  • Keep Brewing Facility clean and functional at all times.
  • Follow Cleaning & Maintenance Schedules and consult supervisor about cleaning needs.
  • Perform all required cleaning to the appropriate standard including tanks, brewhouse, kegs and other packaging, packaging line and other equipment as directed.
  • Assist with inventory counts of beer, grain, hops, other raw materials and packaging inventory.
  • Follow inventory procedures for all raw materials, chemicals, beer, small parts, packaging, supplies etc. and report deficiencies.
  • Monitor quality, temperature, pressure, gravities, dissolved oxygen, and carbonation of beers in tanks, in package, and at the Tap Room on a daily basis.
  • Support Tap Room team if and when required
  • Participate in beer sensory and tasting panels.
  • Work with the Head Brewer to keep an improvement log on all issues.
  • Represent Aether Brewing at various events, festivals and promotions.
  • Follow all Aether Brewing process, policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Year 12
  • Valid manual driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Proficient in MS Office products and MAC OSX
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) qualification
  • Homebrewing experience is a plus
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 65kg (full kegs)
  • Forklift licence viewed favourably
  • Unrestricted working rights in Australia

Training:

  • We will put you through forklift training if required
  • If after 9 months with us, you want to continue your path to brewing, we will put you through recognised brewing courses

Salary:

  • $36,000 – $42,000
