Perth brewery Blasta stormed out of the blocks and has never let up since, collecting a cabinet full of awards, including Champion WA Brewery in the 2020 Indies.

They've got grand plans for 2021, which means lots of brewing roles to fill.


JOB DESCRIPTION: Head Brewer, Senior Brewer & Production Brewers

About the business and the role

Blasta has exciting plans for 2021 and beyond and this presents a rare opportunity to come and join our award-winning beer brand Blasta Brewing Company, initially based in Burswood, Perth, Western Australia. 

The positions will then transition into a new facility in Perth around the third quarter of 2021. 

The following roles are available:

  • Head Brewer
  • Senior Brewer
  • Experienced Production Brewers

We are in the final design stages of increasing our brewery operations with a new world class integrated facility utilising transformative, SMART technologies with some that have never been used before in the craft brewing industry.

The brew team leading into this new venture will be part of a dynamic beer business and will actively shape our business.

Training will be provided and supported for specific roles including advanced TAFE study in Advanced Manufacturing / Integrated Technologies to support these new positions.

Job tasks and responsibilities

As a Blasta HEAD BREWER your primary responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Leading the Brewing quality to the exacting high standards
  • Confidence to make decisions based on experience
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Mentoring and coaching the team
  • Team rostering
  • Brewery budget management
  • Troubleshooting & problem solving
  • Production planning
  • Recipe development
  • Oversee CIP procedures
  • QA/ QC product oversight
  • Oversee Kegging / Canning operations
  • Regulatory and technical documentation capture
  • Representing Blasta at beer functions and events

As a Blasta SENIOR BREWER your primary responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Leading the team by example and removing roadblocks for success
  • Stand in for the Head Brewer when required
  • Oversee brewery operations and ensuring standards are met
  • Wort production & dry hopping
  • Cellaring
  • CIP tasks
  • You must be able to work autonomously and in a team
  • Beer and wort lab analysis
  • Mentoring junior team members
  • General cleaning
  • Kegging & Packaging (cans)
  • Recording accurate records and documentation
  • Representing Blasta at beer functions and events

As a Blasta PRODUCTION BREWER your primary responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Wort production & dry hopping
  • Cellaring
  • CIP tasks
  • You must be able to work autonomously and in a team
  • Beer and wort lab analysis
  • Mentoring junior team members
  • General cleaning
  • Kegging & Packaging (cans)
  • Recording accurate records and documentation
  • Representing Blasta at beer functions and events

Skills and experience

To allow consideration for the Head Brewer role, you will require significant proven experience. A Diploma in Brewing (or an equivalent relevant science, microbiology or engineering degree) and a minimum of three years hands-on, professional brewing experience. 

To allow consideration for the Senior Brewer role, you will require significant proven experience in a brewing or production environment. A minimum of three years experience and a desire to upskill will be advantageous.

To allow consideration for the Production Brewer role, you will require proven experience in a brewing or production environment. A minimum of two years experience and a desire to upskill will be advantageous.

An interest in manufacturing / digital transformation will be highly advantageous.
