If you'd like to join the brewpub as they emerge from Melbourne's latest lockdown, they're hiring.

Job Description: Bar Manager

Temple Brewing’s Brewpub has been around for a while in Brunswick East and serving its great award-winning beers and great “pub” food. During the past 12  months of Covid19 lockdowns and re-opening and lockdowns again, the team has been developing new food offerings and has now developed a reputation for great  South American style food to accompany the great beers.

With a spacious pet-friendly outdoor beer garden, a cosy restaurant downstairs and a welcoming bar lounge upstairs, Temple’s Brewpub meets the needs for our customers’ different requirements. It has 10 taps pouring Temple Brewing’s own award-winning beers as well as a “bottle-shop” for takeaway packaged beers or  Growler fills.

These lockdowns have been tough on everyone especially our front of house team.  As a result of staff movements, we are looking for an experienced Bar Manager who can manage a small team, work well with others within the company and can help grow the patronage once we re-open.

Job Details

We want a person who has either managed a Bar/restaurant or has been an assistant manager in a similar environment.

The ideal person will be someone who is self-driven, self-motivated and hungry to get great results in getting increased patronage through new ideas on offerings,  service levels and special events. Innovation is encouraged within the Temple team.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have had several years of experience in managing a bar with food services and is able to carry out the associated administration activities, bar management and maintenance including cleaning of Tap lines.

The key duties will include managing the operations of the Brewpub business,  coordination with the head chef on food matters, rostering of staff as well as  managing costs and achieving profit targets.

As a customer-facing role, excellent communication skills and customer service mentality are key attributes of this role. In these challenging times, under new health rules, the role will also require a practical approach to dealing with the ever-changing business environment.

The Brewpub opening hours are not every day of the week. It is open from  Wednesday evenings to Sunday evenings as well as from midday from Friday to  Sunday during the warm months and closed on Wednesday’s in the winter months.

While this is a full-time role, there is flexibility in the hours during opening days with the delegation of duties and responsibilities to other members of the Brewpub team.

This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer. However, this role is part of the  Temple Brewing family where every member contributes to the success of the company. Innovative thinking which helps to expand our business is part of our culture.

An appropriate salary package is negotiable based on abilities, experience and track record. If you believe you have the attributes that meet the requirements of this role to achieve great results for Temple Brewing, we will be keen to speak to you.
