Blackman’s Brewery is an award-winning Victorian brewery with three hospitality venues located in Torquay, Geelong and Ocean Grove, and beer distributed Australia wide. We are a tight-knit group of people who love what they do, and we are growing.
We are an independent, family run & owned brewery on the Surf Coast and in Geelong. We make our beers with the best quality ingredients we can get our hands on and we give our beers the right amount of time in tank, we don't rush them through to meet deadlines. Our core range is made up of beers that cover a variety of flavours and styles, we want to make good beer for everyone. We love amazing hospitality and is our main goal for every person who walks through our doors, to have a whole lot of fun.
We're now looking for an experienced Operations Manager with a background in hospitality, to work with our leadership group and Venue Managers to oversee the day-to-day operations of our 3 Beer Venues. We’re a growing business with loads going on. Bring on summer!

Here are the primary responsibilities of the role:
We’re looking for an experienced leader to oversee the effective operations of our 3 craft beer venues. You will have experience in a similar role or will be a venue manager looking to make the step up to operations. You will be a positive, energetic and self motivated go-getter, ready to help steer this rapidly growing brewery group.
- Ensure a fun, relaxed and beer focused environment for our beloved customers to enjoy beer & food whilst promoting Blackman’s Brewery values in all our venues.
- Oversee the efficient and effective running of all venues and external events ensuring our activities are profitable.
- You will lead from the front by example and be all for rolling up your sleeves to help out when required.
- Motivate and lead staff, creating a professional yet fun workplace environment.
- Help develop the growth of Blackman's Brewery Venues.
- Reporting to the Company Directors, you will conduct weekly venue meetings with Venue Managers and Head Chefs reporting to you.
- Help implement marketing strategies and contribute with your own ideas.
- Ensure the Blackman's culture and policies are upheld at all times.
- Once you’ve mastered the initial responsibilities, there will be opportunities to grow into other areas of the business.
Here are the qualities we’re looking for:
- Experience in operations management within the hospitality environment.
- An energetic, enthusiastic & fun beer loving legend who loves hospitality and leading a team.
- An excellent problem solver with the ability to keep a calm head at all times and think your way through issues.
- Outstanding communication skills. You must be able to give and follow instructions carefully, connect with and speak the Blackman's lingo and with a smile. Smiling is very important.
- Flexibility. You must be able to fit well within our team but get on with things on your own.
- Be seriously organised. Organisation is key, you must be able to demonstrate that you can work across a range of projects all at once, in a deliberate manner.
- Commitment to the independent good beer cause and a love of good beer – we want you to become part of the Blackman’s family, the Blackman’s team as well as our amazing customers.
- Be a strong and respectable team leader with excellent time management skills.
- You will not be one to shy away from hard work and industry setbacks.
