There is a lot of love out there for Akasha Brewing's beers, particularly their hop forward releases like Korben and Hopsmith.

Job Description: Senior Brewer

Akasha Brewing Company, based in Five Dock NSW, was founded in 2015 and has developed a reputation for producing some of the country’s favourite hop forward beers such as Hopsmith IPA, Freshwater Pale Ale and Korben Double IPA. 

We live by the statement, ‘Great beer is our everything’, crafting high quality, hop-forward and consistently fresh beer that have won numerous awards and earned us the status as one of Australia’s most popular independent breweries.

Our Sydney brewery has completed a significant capacity expansion and we are on the lookout for an experienced senior brewer. This rare opportunity to join the Akasha team will suit a brewer with a hardcore passion for handcrafted, hop-forward beer and a desire to work with some of the best in their field. 

The key functions of this role include:

  • Supervising and developing a small team of brewers including resource scheduling. 
  • Daily brewing, cellaring, canning and kegging operations with an exceptional level of attention to detail
  • Overseeing quality control, lab, cleaning and warehousing tasks
  • Regular maintenance of the brew house and other equipment in the brewery
  • Daily input of information into the brewery management system
  • Assist with new product development 
  • Assist with marketing activities as appropriate, including events and trade shows/festivals, etc.

To be considered for the role, you’ll need the following qualifications and experience:

  • A love of quality, independent Australian beer 
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a production brewery
  • Beer related qualification or relevant tertiary experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of brewing, packaging, brewing science and sensory 
  • Well developed communication skills 
  • Current Australian driver's licence 
  • NSW RSA and Forklift licence
