Not that long ago, there were genuine fears that one of Melbourne’s oldest established microbreweries was going to go under.
Thankfully, WA’s Mash Brewing rode to the rescue and gave 3 Ravens a fresh lease on life.
Now the Thornbury brewery continues to brew its original beers as well as a number of special releases for Mash for the East Coast.

Job Description – Assistant Brewer
The 3 Ravens Brewery in Thornbury, Victoria, seeks applications for the position of assistant brewer. With plans for expansion and new infrastructure, we require someone prepared to put in the hard yards as production increases.
The role is ideally suited to a candidate looking to enter the brewing industry.
We are seeking a team member who is passionate about beer and beer quality and who isnât afraid to take on all the required tasks including, but not limited to:
- Brewhouse operations
- Cellaring operations
- Packaging â bottle and keg
- Cleaning everything, often.
- Receipt & despatch of goods in & out
- Deliveries
- Maintaining a tidy and safe working environment
The applicant should:
- Have an understanding of brewing processes and procedures â recognised brewing qualifications or current enrolment in such will be looked upon favourably.
- Be anally retentive in a figurative sense.
- Be capable of completing physically demanding tasks. With gusto.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
- Have excellent record keeping ability
- Scrub up ok when representing the brewery in public and at functions.
- Take direction when required, use initiative when appropriate and be able to tell when each is needed.
- Have discerning taste in beer and music.
