Bankstown will soon have a new microbrewery opening its doors, and they are in need of a stellar assistant manager to join the growing team. Set inside the Bankstown Sports Club, this is a brilliant opportunity to help shape one of Sydney's next big venues.

JOB DESCRIPTION: ASSISTANT MANAGER - SYDNEY

Do you love craft beer? Do you enjoy the hospitality industry and want to take your career to the next level? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated, full-time Basement Brewhouse Assistant Manager, looking after the newest bar/restaurant destination inside Bankstown Sports Club in Sydney. 

This new 200-seat venue will house its own microbrewery which will produce a wide range of craft beer, and will also feature a burger bar / gourmet delicatessen, laid out in open-plan with a very modern, industrial feel. The Basement Brewhouse will be a large-scale destination inside the club and is set to open in November 2016.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Reporting to the Brewhouse Manager, the successful applicant will help with the initial pre-opening planning and procedures. Once the venue is operational, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the Brewhouse, while also assisting the Brewhouse Manager with ongoing planning and strategy.

To be successful in this role, you will have a genuine interest in craft beer. You will have exceptional people skills, a can-do approach, and be a great problem solver. You will be goal-orientated with excellent time management. Coaching and mentoring your team will be a key part of this role. 

Initially, responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the recruitment of the Brewhouse Team
  • Staff training and development
  • Involvement with product selection
  • Developing service standards, procedures and supporting documents

Once the Brewhouse is operational, responsibilities will include:

  • Demonstrating our core values; Working Together, Community, Continuous Improvement and Customer Service excellence
  • Leading the Brewhouse Team
  • Enhancing our customer experience at every opportunity
  • Playing an active role in the growth and development of Basement Brewhouse
  • Ongoing team coaching and development
  • Working with key stakeholders to plan and implement events and promotions
  • Maintaining venue presentation standards
  • Dealing with product suppliers and managing product range
  • Maintaining customer service standards
  • Supporting marketing and promotional activities
  • Anticipating and resolving customer service problems arising during service periods
  • Managing Work Health and Safety responsibilities
  • Ensuring compliance with RSA and RCG
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional customer service
  • Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, food and beverage service
  • Experience in managing, developing and leading teams
  • Demonstrated interest in the craft beer industry
  • High standard or presentation
  • Effective time management and organisational skills
  • Tertiary qualifications in management or hospitality (preferred)
  • RSA/RCG competency card
  • Proven ability to deal with a diverse business base, with a strong customer focus
  • Flexible working hours; Bankstown Sports Club operates on a 24/7 rotational roster, (Shifts will include days, nights and weekends)
