JOB DESCRIPTION: HEAD BREWER (QLD)
About the role
- Head brewer responsible for end-to-end brewing operations commencing Oct 2017

Duties & responsibilities
- Single person brewery operations (end-to-end)
- Product production, quality control, supply chain management, raw materials sourcing/handling, recipe design, pilot batching, wort production, yeast/lab management, fermentation, packaging, warehousing, and lots of cleaning!
- Out of hours monitoring and on-call is required for emergency production issues
- Create and document all standard operating procedures
- Brewery maintenance including coordinating repairs via 3rd parties
- Build and foster effective relationships throughout the brewing community and represent the company in media, marketing and events
- Mentorship and training of assistant brewers
- Maintain and champion our core values, ethics and team culture
- Provide training and education to all staff in regards to brewing and brew culture (focus on front of house staff)
- Effective and timely daily reporting via online tools
- Updating of all brew house records and registers
- Interaction with public at tap room, events, brewery tours and hosted evenings
- Distribution coordination and deliveries
- Other duties as assigned by the director
Skills & experience
- Tertiary education in brewing or relevant commercial experience mandatory
- Min 3 years in commercial brewing preferably with end-to-end accountability of all brewing operations or demonstrated ability to step up into the role
- Highly passionate, enthusiastic, team player with excellent communication skills
- Autonomous worker with fine attention to detail, a can-do attitude, and someone who completes each and every job with pride in their work
- Strong understanding of beer styles, flavour profiles, and a proven ability to create them
- Demonstrated ability to generate new ideas, process improvements and most importantly have actually implemented them
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible and fast growing small business model (i.e willing to wear many hats)
