JOB DESCRIPTION: HEAD BREWER

New England Brewing Co. is about to clock up six years of brewing in our special part of the world.  We are a small and highly capable and innovative brewery with an established local tap and packaged market, as well as strong sales out of our region. We brew authentic and full blown experimental styles and package all beer on site with our canning line installed in 2017.

The Head Brewer role at New England Brewing Co. is at the heart a creative role. You’ll work with a small team to develop a beer calendar based on local and international trends, as well as pushing your own knowledge and skill set to devise our next original release and tweak our core range. The role is hands on and you’ll need to be on the tools in most brewery floor activities.

Apart from being accountable for all brewery floor administrative and process functions you’ll:

  • Train and manage the performance of assistant brewers and casual brewery floor staff
  • Update and implement a new risk based quality assurance program
  • Review and maintain SOPs for best practise and training
  • Maintain a CAPEX plan including the short-term sourcing of process monitoring equipment
  • Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate supply agreements
  • Maintain all brewery floor equipment and troubleshoot mechanical issues
  • Be an advocate for quality craft beer and transfer your beer knowledge to our customer base and at the brewery door
  • Maintain our strong tradition of seasonal release collaborations with venues and other food and beverage businesses

Your background:

  • More than two years as a brewer in a production brewery combined with a transferable skill set from previous roles
  • Completed, studying or a strong commitment to further brewery related training.
  • Strong knowledge of a wide range of beer styles and ingredients
  • Experience across all brewery functions

We are offering a highly competitive package, including study assistance and leave, brewery maintained vehicle and relocation assistance.

Please email applications (Attention Ben) to jobs@newenglandbrewing.com.au or to discuss the role please call 02 6778 4781.

Close of application date is January 28, 2019.
