Keeping Local Alive

The Australian beer, hospitality and events industries face an unprecedented threat from COVID-19. The #keepinglocalalive campaign aims to help local businesses make it to the other side.

We're encouraging people to get behind their local breweries and venues and have created a free online resource showcasing what businesses are doing to stay alive. There are also campaign assets for anyone wanting to show their support, including #keepinglocalalive t-shirts, plus a Specialists section for businesses seeking advice and inspiration.

You'll also find features from the local beer community in the Postcards from the Edge series and the People #keepinglocalalive photo stories running on Facebook and Instagram.

The future of local beer – it's in your hands.

BEER SWAG DAY

Bag some swag!  Show us your swag!  Win a swag full of beer swag!

"What you on about?" you may well ask. Well, it's the first Beer Swag Day – a chance for you to show your love for the local beer industry by showing off all the shirts, stubby holders, beanies, glasses, hoodies, growlers, trucker caps and whatever else you've amassed over the years.

On May 23, #keepinglocalalive is inviting beer lovers across Australia to post photos of themselves and their hauls of beer swag online in support of local beer, breweries, bars and bottleshops. There will be prizes for the best, funniest and most creative posts – including the ultimate prize for a beer lover in isolation: a camping swag for one full of beer and beer merch!

Beer Together

In cahoots with Ale of a Time and a growing band of others, we've launched a YouTube channel and are looking to run daily shows covering all manner of beer-related (and less so) topics. Check out the homepage here.

Funky Bunch Trivia

Fifteen years after starting with a single trivia night in Melbourne, Funky Bunch saw their 60-plus weekly pub shows disappear overnight. So they've moved online and you can join them every Wednesday at 7.30pm AEST. Read about it here.

IBA Chats

The Independent Brewers Association are creating more online content on the back of the Virtual Indie Beer Showcase. Keep an eye on their socials and The Crafty Pint Events Diary for details of hosted brewer chats and more.
