The challenge is on to see which of two of our keenest Crafty Cabal members will be first to fall. We held the Brisbane launch for The Crafty Cabal at The Scratch last Saturday and among the Cabalistas in attendance were two who have now been to all four main events so far: Boatrocking Cabarrelistas, the Melbourne Launch, the GBW Sunday Session and now Brisbane, with both arranging trips to Queensland to coincide with the get together.
Next up will be events in Adelaide and Sydney; will Ray and John make it along...?
Thanks to those who came to The Scratch and helped us work through a keg of Fixation IPA and Newstead Brewing Co Westerlies Black Lager plus six metres of pizza – and to the consummate professionals at The Scratch for hosting. We came away with two new writers to help us cover the burgeoning Brisbane scene and The Crafty Pot Jr became the first person to have happy birthday sung to them on their first birthday at the Milton bar (in front of a skeleton and assorted skulls) so we can't complain!
For the most part, however, this update from the past fortnight is about announcing winners from our most recent ballots and competitions. They are as follows:
The Wheaty Collaboration Brew Day
Congrats to Gus Kingston, Alex Norman and Tim Sleep who will be joining us at The Wheaty next Friday to create the first Crafty Cabale with The Wheaty Brewing Corps.
We'll announce the date for the launch of the beer soon, with the event also acting as the SA launch party for the Cabal.
Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival All Session Double Passes
It's been a good week for Gus as he was one of the five names pulled from the hat to win one of five all session double passes for that weekend's Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival. The other winners are:
- Daniel Lewis
- Glen Phillips
- James McCall
- And one TBC after the initial winner couldn't make it
all of whom will be heading there with a mate. We'll be there on the Saturday hosting a couple of panels. Look out for The Crafty Pint Container Bar, which will be pouring beers from some of our favourite breweries all weekend. And, if you're in Adelaide, don't forget to check out the first ever Pint of Origin SA – full details here.
Cutty Cellars Election Day Beer Fest
We ran a competition to win one of eight packs of 50 tasting tokens for Cabalistas to share with their mates at tomorrow's Cutty Cellars Fest2. The winning entries were:
- Jeremy Parrott
- Matthew Chamberlin
- Peter Matthews
- Paul Ryan
- Matthew Paynter
- Michelle Hanrahan
- Evan Telford
- Holly Coles
Have fun tomorrow!
The ballot for Beervana all session passes is still open and we'll soon open another one for the Beer InCider festival in Brisbane.
In terms of new deals and offers to redeem at breweries and venues around the country, our time on the road means we haven't got as many new ones loaded as we planned since the last update, but our time in South East Queensland does mean you can now find new offers at Brisbane Brewing Co, Balter Brewers and Burleigh Brewing, who will be changing their offers each month so you can redeem something new each time. Keep your eyes peeled for more being added before our next update in a fortnight.
And if you like what we're doing, feel free to tell your mates as the more people that support us by joining The Crafty Cabal the better we can do what we do here at The Crafty Pint.
