Crafty Snaps: Preparing For Good Beer Week

Has there ever been a day quite like it at the Mountain Goat brewery? Or indeed in the history of Aussie brewing? Over the space of a few hours, in one corner of the brewery it was all hands on deck for the bottling of hundreds of longnecks of the brewery’s Rare Breed IPA – this time packaged as Australia Pale Ale destined for the US market – while brewers from Moon Dog and Matilda Bay joined Goat co-founder Dave Bonighton as the one-off Good Beer Week collaborative brew took shape: a Belgian Dubbel featuring various shades of crystal malt, raisins, Muscovado sugar and waffles.

Meanwhile, once we’d finished filming the brew and interviewing the participants (coming soon to Crafty), it was time to turn our attention to filming a video clip for a new “Beer Song” by Melbourne musical comedy duo ElbowSkin, who footy fans might know from the songs they’ve been writing for Channel 7 and comedy fans will know from their years at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. There’s a little more filming to be done before it’s ready to roll, but watch out for it appearing on Crafty and elsewhere in the run up to Good Beer Week.

In the meantime, here’s a few photos from the day’s action to whet your appetite. Enjoy!
