Gage Roads has continued its run of success on multiple fronts by winning the right to pour its beers at the new Perth Stadium. The Palmyra based brewery beat off competition from brewing giants to seal the deal after proving it was capable of supplying 5,000 kegs of different beers over a five day period.
The appointment was made by Stadium Operator VenuesLive following a competitive tender process and is for a term of five years.
Gage Roads National Sales and Marketing Manager, Scott Player, said the tender win was a major milestone for the Western Australian brewer and a ringing endorsement of the quality of its craft products.
“We are extremely proud to be awarded the supply rights to the new, world-class 60,000 seat Perth Stadium. This contract presents a unique opportunity for Gage Roads to showcase to a wide audience the quality of our craft ales, lagers and ciders, all made here in Perth,” he said.
“Our appointment puts the fans first by recognising the growing demand among consumers for greater variety and quality products at entertainment venues.
“It also means most of the value of the contract stays in the state, with our commitment to using local suppliers and the growth of our local workforce that will occur because of the tender win.”
Perth Stadium Chief Executive Officer Mike McKenna said more than 1.5 million visitors will visit the Stadium each year.
The news follows just days after Gage Roads took out the top trophy at the Sydney Royal Beer Show for its Red Rye IPA and less than 18 months after its Little Dove was named Champion Australian Beer at the country's biggest beer competition, the Australian International Beer Awards.
In between times, the brewing company announced it was to buy back the 25 percent share owned by Woolworths to return to being an independent brewing company.
The news on the stadium deal is the latest good news for independent brewing companies in WA, coming less than a week after Cheeky Monkey became the first small, independent Australian brewery to confirm a deal to supply beers to Singapore Airlines (Green Beacon has since followed with more announcements to come).
Last week also saw the company behind Perth's Northbridge Brewing Company open the Whitfords Brewing Company brewpub in a new suburban Westfield mall, bringing small scale brewing to that part of the city for the first time.
