Warming Up For Winter

Although us craft beer lovers still want to see greater recognition for quality beer in the mainstream media, The Crafty Pint’s conversation with top UK beer writer Pete Brown at his splendid local in London the other night suggests we should be thankful for what we have. Even in a country with many more national dailies and weekend papers than Australia – and where there’s a far stronger and longer brewing heritage – it’s been the rise of online beer writing that’s been helping to stoke the microbrewing revolution in Blighty more than its occasional appearances in the likes of the Guardian. So, with most Aussie cities' papers still finding room for semi-regular beer columns and, in the case of the Age, fairly regular Crafty-penned articles, we should be thankful (even if that’s no reason not to keep shouting for more, obviously).

Which brings us to the point of this article, namely that there’s another one in the Age today – and this one’s online. It’s a roundup of some of the dark beers coming your way this winter (or that have already arrived in some cases) and features the likes of Red Duck, Kooinda, Holgate, Moo Brew, Red Hill and more.

You can read the full article here. For those outside Victoria, apologies for what is a fairly Vic-centric lineup, but this is a Melbourne paper and all of these beers are (reasonably) available in and around the city.
