Welcome to February's update from The Crafty Cabal, the beer lovers bonus scheme from The Crafty Pint. We've got a stack of new updates available for members – and heaps of signup bonuses for members-to-be.
Before we get stuck into what's new, we've got two separate competitions that are closing soon, with winners drawn this week. Port Macquarie Beer & Cider Festival returns to the coastal town on February 22 after a delay caused by last year's bushfires in the region. We've got a double pass available for one lucky Cabalista which you can win by heading to your member's area online or logging into The Crafty Pint app.
On the same day in Melbourne, Hoptimus Freshtivus will be taking place at Richmond's Uitgang Bar. It's a blind tasting and IPA showcase rolled into one where eight freshly kegged IPAs from eight breweries are tapped and you have to guess which beer belongs to which brewery. Again, enter the ballot in your member's area for a chance to win a ticket.
Looking beyond that, we've got a sizable swathe of deals, festival tickets and beer to give away to Cabalistas. Read on for the latest new offers for members.
Once again, we've partnered with GABS to line up tickets for every Aussie session for Crafty Cabal members, both new signups and existing. The festival returns from early May and will be embarking on the same four city trek it followed in 2019, starting in Brisbane (May 9) before moving to Melbourne (May 22-24) then Sydney (May 30) and finally Auckland (July 4).
Existing members can enter a ballot for the session of their choice via their member's area online or logged into The Crafty Pint app. This will close on March 10 before tickets go on sale so no one who misses out in the competition need miss out on a ticket.
Or, you can get a ticket when you sign up here (choose the desired session from the drop-down list) and you'll get a ticket as a welcome gift – while stocks last. Once you've joined, you'll gain access to the 150 (and growing) deals around the country, awesome competitions and exclusive events – all while supporting independent Aussie beer journalism.
Make Their XPA Your XPA
Congrats to Peter Dickinson, Cameron Eldridge and Matt Doyle who will all be getting their hands on 3 Ravens cases from our first major beer ballot of the year. For February, we've launched another beer giveaway featuring Malt Shovel Brewers' This Is Our XPA.
The Camperdown brewers have been given their own brand to play with and have set about creating a series of limited release beers. They also produce an XPA all year round called This Is Our XPA and we've got five cases – plus merch – to give away to Cabalistas.
Members need to enter before early March when we'll pick winners at random and notify them via email.
The Carwyn Collaborational is a unique new festival that will bring together a dozen acclaimed international breweries with a dozen locals for a day of rare and delicious beers. You can read all about it here and, thanks to the Carwyn crew, we've got some excellent giveaways for Cabalistas keen on attending.
For new members, there's a couple of tickets available as signup bonuses, just head here and select the appropriate option from the drop-down list. UPDATE: Just one left!
Existing members can win a ticket by entering a ballot before 5pm this Friday (Feb 14) when we'll pick the winners at random and notify them via email. Sorry for the rapid deadline but tickets are moving fast and we don't want anyone missing out!
Cabilistas heading along can also enjoy an extra $20 in tasting tokens if they're one of the first 50 members to register via the member's area. We will be checking that you've bought a festival ticket so don't register unless you're going.
Beers In Bendigo
The Bendigo Craft Beer & Cider Fest returns for the eighth time on March 14, 2020, bringing together a collection of breweries and cideries from across the country for a day of drinking, eating and general merriment.
Thanks to the organisers, Cabal members can get their hands on a free ticket. Head to your member's area, enter the ballot and we'll pick winners at random on February 21 so you've got plenty of time to grab a ticket if you miss out. There's also a couple available as welcome gifts for new members here.
An Evening With One Drop
One Drop Brewing are barely a year old but have been off to a flier since opening in Botany.
They've picked up medals galore, brewed a beer with Kellogg's and won over fans with everything from lagers and IPAs to fruit sours.
If you'd like to get to know them even better, they're inviting Crafty Cabal members to join them for a barrel tasting, sneak peek, meet the brewer and more on the evening of May 28.
We'll be putting tickets on sale nearer the time (don't worry – as with all Cabal events it will be a minimal fee) but if this sounds like your kind of thing, you can register your interest in your member's area and we'll be in touch via email as soon as that time comes.
They're promising barrel and pre-release samples, food, a talk through the brand and its environmentally-aware ethos with the owners, an intimate tasting of current beers with the head brewer and a walk through the brewery.
Double Down On Indie Beer
The Indie Beer Showcase is the new name for the Good Beer Week Gala Showcase and takes place in Fed Square on March 20 and 21.
Thanks to the Independent Brewers Association and GBW team, we've got a bunch of double passes to give away that are worth more than $100.
There's a couple of double passes available as signup bonuses for new Cabal members – head here and select the appropriate option from the drop-down list.
Existing Cabalistas can win a double pass worth more than $100 by entering the ballot in their member's area.
We'll pick winners at random on February 28 and notify them via email.
And there’s more…
Phew! If the above giveaways and offers aren't enough, we've got some new ongoing offers added since our last update:
- Heads of Noosa (that's their glistening beer pictured above) are a Sunshine Coast brewery focused on lagers and they're doing an excellent job of it too. The team has picked up medals and landed a spot in the most recent GABS Hottest 100. Cabalistas keen to try that beer from the source can enjoy two schooners for the price of one.
- Cabalistas who head to the Yarra Valley can stop in at Coldstream Brewery to enjoy a free pot of beer or cider with any meal they buy.
- Audacious Monk is a bar and bottleshop filled with character that specialise in providing the people of Melbourne's north with great local and independent drinks. Call in to see the team and they'll give you 20 percent off any mixed six beers if you show them you're a Crafty Cabal member.
- TWØBAYS on the Mornington Peninsula specialise in gluten free beer and Cabalistas who make it in can enjoy a free tasting paddle.
- Queenscliff Brewhouse is home to a microbrewery, still, providore, whisky bar and more on the Bellarine Peninsula. It's also home to two great deals for Cabal members: two-for-one tasting paddles and 15 percent off the brewpub's brewer experiences.
Chances are you've downloaded the updated Crafty Pint app by now and logged in as a Cabalista so you can redeem as many of the 150 offers as possible nice and easily there. If not, head here to pop it on your phone.
