Crafty Cabal Update - August 2020

Time for an update from The Crafty Cabal, The Crafty Pint's beer club. We hope you're all keeping well as these very unusual times continue. As you may have seen on our social media channels, given the stage 3 and 4 lockdown in Victoria, we've applied a further two-month extension to the accounts of all members in the state.

We're keeping an eye on changes elsewhere and have everything crossed that breweries and venues in other parts of the country can remain open.

On the plus side, we've been busy adding lots of new deals, especially online so you can access them wherever you are and whatever conditions you're experiencing, and are launching our first online events too.

Make sure you follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see what's new as we'll be adding new deals, giveaways and events pretty much daily now as we work towards a major relaunch later in the year.

Before we get stuck into what's new, we've got a stack of competition winners to congratulate.

They are Damian Renehan, Andrea McKenzie and Dean Peldys, who lucked out in our largest giveaway ever from Otherside, Luke Hodges, Matt Chamberlin and Michael Hunt, who won Feral's Dirty Biggie packs, and Daniel Olszewski who's getting his hands on some Mortal Wombat from KAIJU! and New York's Thin Man.

So, what's new?

Bright's Big Cans

High Country veterans Bright Brewery have been winning plenty of fans in recent times with a new look core range and new releases aplenty.

As we head into August, they're releasing their Wagon Wheel Choc Porter and Rock Paper Scissors NEIPA in tallboy tinnies and have given us a couple of mixed cases to give away to Cabal members.

Simply enter the ballot in your member's area and we'll pick winners at random on August 19 then notify them via email.

You can view our competition rules here, then enter by logging into your member's area here or via The Crafty Pint app.

Hey, Revolver!

Brick Lane Brewing have started ramping up their specialty beer releases in 2020 and they've dropped some bangers too. Thanks to the brewery, we've got five cases of their delicious dark ale Revolver, a beer we reckon is like Beatles album meets Rage Against The Machine track, to give away to Cabalistas.

You have until August 26 to enter the ballot for the beer.

Get Your Fix Of Fixation

IPA Day was earlier in the week and if you're going to launch a new giveaway on IPA Day, you may as well do it with a great IPA.

Fixation's flagship beer has picked up almost as many awards as it's got IBUs since launching a few years ago.

And the lovely folks at the brewery have given us four cases to ballot for Cabal members. You have until September 3 to enter.

Virtua-Cabal ft 3 Ravens

As promised, we're launching online events for Cabalistas. First up is the man above, Brendan O'Sullivan, for a chat about everything the reigning Indies Champion Brewery is up to now.

We'd planned to stream from the brewery and maybe even have some of you there in person but stage 4 means you'll be getting us from our homes instead. On the plus side, you'll be able to get your hands on a very special beer before it's released to the public.

Head to your member's area to find out more, to register for the event and to take advantage of their special offer for Cabal members too.

The tasting and Q&A takes place at 7pm AEST on September 9 and we'll send out a member-only link to the stream nearer the day.

Up next after 3 Ravens: an exclusive pre-release tasting and chat with Rocky Ridge...

Heaps More

We've added a whole stack of online deal too, which seems fitting considering so many of us are stuck at home:

  • Beer Cartel are offering Cabalistas $20 off any of their subscriptions.
  • You can tuck into a Mystery Mixed Case from Rocky Ridge and enjoy 10 percent off.
  • Molly Rose are offering 15 percent off mixed cases from their online store.
  • Spend more than $20 on Bad Shepherd's online store and you'll enjoy a 5 percent discount.
  • Bright Brewery are offering 10 percent for members using their own online store.
  • As is the team at Holgate Brewhouse.
  • Finally, if you spend more than $150 at 3 Ravens you'll enjoy 10 percent off and get free shipping too up until the end of August.
  • You can save $10 off cases from Brick Lane's online store.
  • And there's a discount off merch from Feral (and beer too if you live within 50km of the brewery).

There's going to be loads more like this coming, plus more in-venue specials as things return to normal, as we make sure a Cabal membership is the best money a beer lover can spend.

If you're still wondering what The Crafty Cabal is, it's a beer club similar to the subscription services run by community radio stations. By signing up and supporting us in our good beer mission, you get access to deals at beer venues across Australia, invites to exclusive events, and entry into heaps of awesome competitions with prizes worth tens of thousands every year and more.

If you enjoy The Crafty Pint, you can become a supporter of our independent journalism.

You can make a donation or sign up for our beer club, The Crafty Cabal, and gain access to exclusive events, giveaways and special deals.
