Father's Day 2020 Gift Guide

Whether you're in it for the rampant consumerism or really do just love your dad an awful lot, beer folks around the country have come up with plenty of options when it comes to sorting out a gift for Father's Day. And, if nothing else, every beer you buy is helping keep local alive!

There's an ever-growing list of options below; if you've got something you'd like including, hit us up via email.

We've got an ideal gift of our own, of course, and it's one that keeps on giving: membership of our beer club, The Crafty Cabal. Members gain access to 161 and counting* deals and offers at breweries and venues around the country, including a fast-growing number of online deals to reflect the COVID era.

We're also starting online member events next month while we're restricted on the physical front, and run regular giveaways featuring hundreds of bucks worth of beer and merch. Check it out

NB Given the limited capacity of many of those venues that are open and the generally overworked nature of couriers these days, you'd be well advised not to muck around if you're intending to book a spot at a venue or have something delivered.

Bad Shepherd

Top beer and a perfectly cooked roast? Oh to be in Bad Shepherd's Father's Day bubble.

Balter

With the main goal of helping you outshine your siblings, the Gold Coasters have a range of snazzy dad packs, each one full of tightly made beers and sharp merch in pleasant pastel colours. Check 'em out here.

Batch Brewing

Grab a gift from Batch which includes a hat of your choice plus two each of their APA, West Coast IPA, Tasman Tango South Pacific Ale and Elsie the Milk Stout. Order online here or pick one up at the brewery.

Beer Cartel

With a firm focus on the last minute (but no less thoughtful) shopper, Beer Cartel will sort you out with a gift that keeps on giving via their beer club subscriptions. And if you're really at last minute stage, they also do gift certificates.

BentSpoke

Much like the way regular time feels for many at the moment, the Canberrans are stretching Father's Day out across a whole weekend, with the feature being a special three course menu, matched with beers, at the Braddon brewpub. And if you're a dad who's not getting the day off your duties, it might help to know they're putting on a special kids menu too. Make your bookings here.

Boatrocker

Rather than competing with complex value propositions, Boatrocker has come up with a sharp sales pitch that appeals directly to the well populated segment of the market traditionally known as last minute gift buyers:  What about Spiced Rum? (They also offer a gift wrapping service ...)

BoJaK Brewing

More a celebration of extended family than just dear ol 'dad, BoJak is bringing the community together for their Father's Day offering. It's an ISO-special designed to showcase several local independent breweries, whereby you order a mixed case and get to enjoy beers from Wolf of the Willows, Deeds, Bad Shepherd, Mr Banks, Kaiju, Exit, The Mill - and even a few from BoJak themselves. Get it here.

Bridge Road

If you're after the essentials – by which we mean hoppy beer, hoppy socks and hoppy hoodies – the crew from Beechworth have you sorted. Just head here and start scrolling.

Bruny Island

If your dad's idea of quality fodder is a Big Mac washed down with whatever's cold, ignore this section because Bruny Island has some seriously high class gear on offer; barrel aged stout, home baked crumpets, a kilo of vintage cheese, single malt whiskey, handmade socks ... you get the idea. Begin drooling here .

Exit Brewing

If it's value you're after, Exit is giving you about $125 worth for $75. Their Legendary Dad Pack comes with a dozen beers, a rubber-backed bar mat, an Exit t-shirt, stubby holder, loads of stickers and the pièce de résistance, a handwritten note of eternal gratitude for your faith and support in a local brewery. But, be honest, they'd have you at "a dozen beers". Get them here.

Future Mountain

Given it's run by two families, little surprise the Reservoir crew are going big for Father's Day. There are various packs on offer, from Bird-Beer-Bread feature treats from All Are Welcome and a 1L Howler, a Virtual Beer Tasting Flights featuring five different beer types from sours to saisons introduced by brewers Ian and Shane, and various packs made up of beers, coffee, drinking chocolate, glassware and jerky. Take your pick here.

Little Bang

Your dad love a deal? Send him to Stepney on September 6 where he'll be able to get a beer and burger for $ 20, win free beer in the best (as in worst) Dad Joke competition, partake of a free 30 minute brewery tour and nab a dad's day gift pack containing beer, a stubby holder and a beanie. Get detailed details here, or skip all that and just make a booking by emailing hello@littlebang.com.au.

Modus Operandi

Their argument is that you should get your old man something he'll actually like this year, all the while they peddle the classic pairing of beer and socks. So, yeah, they're probably right. Alternatively, if you prefer the personal touch and are local to the brewery, get your dad his fill of live music and a pint of the latest in their Hazy series – Hazy 06: Apricot & Coconut Milkshake.

Red Hill

Something to wear or something to drink? Why not both with one of Red Hill's Fun Pack and t-shirt bundles! Options range in size, depending on how much beer you want, with extra add-ons available too. Start browsing here .

Redoak

Following an enforced hiatus, the inner-city Sydney institution of Redoak is using the occasion of Father's Day to bring back the ever-varied and equally interesting beer classes which they've been running for longer than most other local breweries have been in existence. Bookings are absolutely essential.

Stone & Wood

The Byron crew have nailed the stereotype with their Lager-Loving Dad Bundle which includes beer, beer socks and a coldie holder (made, of course, from wetsuit offcuts). Alternatively, their Pub in a Box includes a carton of beer, a couple of S&W glasses, a bar mat and a bag of nuts. There are also a couple more mix and match options, all of which can be ordered from their website .

Tallboy and Moose

Get something cold (beer), something hot (hot sauce) and something to wear with one of the many "I ❤️️  Dad" beer and BBQ mixed packs from the Preston brewery - with bonus free delivery for local suburbs.

Your Mates

Give your dad's back yard - and his wheels - a Warana-style makeover with a Your Mates  Backyard Beers Pack. This includes a limited edition YM bar runner, stubby cooler, sticker pack (including a 60cm '' Brewing Good Times '' car sticker) and an air freshener. Oh, and some beer. Order here

*Due to stage 3 and 4 restrictions in Victoria, and the impact that has on redeeming deals at venues, we're giving Victorians members free membership of The Crafty Cabal until breweries and venues in the state are open again.
