The GABS Can Design Awards winner for 2024 has been announced, with the top title going to Beerfarm's Fruitasaurus Rex.
The beer label was designed by Steffi Schmidt, who also takes home $1,000 in cash for her hard work. Further details on her win and the other podium stars are below.

Over 120 of Australia’s most exciting Craft Breweries each entered one design into this year’s competition, all displayed in a stunning digital gallery. After thousands of beer and art lovers cast their votes, it was over to the experienced panel of judges to evaluate the 10 finalists across six different categories. Their judges cards are all in and WA’s Beerfarm has taken out top spot and the coveted Orora Golden Can Trophy in this year’s GABS Craft Beer Can Design Awards! The winning design is the colourful Fruitasaurus Rex, created by Steffi Schmidt who also takes home $1,000 in cash. Housing a delicious Imperial Fruited Pastry Sour Beer the artwork was inspired by the perfect fusion of T-Rex, pinball and fruit! Totally on point when you consider the can is home to a big, fruity beer that was going to take your tastebuds on an Dino-mite fruit explosion journey.
Completing the podium in an extremely hard fought contest, Seven Mile Brewing Snozzberry Mixed Berry Sour designed by Greg Hodgson took out silver and the bronze award went to Dangerous Ales Nelson Ha-ha DDH Hazy IPA designed by Emily Reid.
Along with the Orora Golden Trophy, the winner receives printing plates plus a brewery stand at GABS 2025. All runners up walk away with great prizes from Opal Packaging and accolades of recognition go to the top designs from each state.
This year’s designs reflect a remarkable evolution in craft beer can art. As consumer spending patterns shift, the importance of standing out on the shelf is more pronounced, and it is anticipated that label creativity will continue to be a vital element in new beer releases as first impressions matter more than ever.
The exterior of the can has become as crucial as the quality of the beer inside and GABS, along with its sponsors, are extremely proud to be able to celebrate the incredibly talented can artists in the brewing industry.
