Tourism Snowy Mountains is thrilled to announce a dynamic collaboration with Arc'teryx and Capital Brewing Co., launching a project that has seen athletes Hugh Newall, Ji Sheng, Michaela Franz and Jonny Day become the first to complete the Snowies Alpine Walk in its entirety over just two days.
This journey took place on November 9th and 10th, as the athletes traversed the challenging 55-kilometre alpine trail from Guthega to Charlotte Pass and on to Lake Crackenback Resort.
The Snowies Alpine Walk, renowned for its breathtaking alpine views and rugged terrain tested the teams endurance and determination, while showcasing the Snowy Mountains’ spectacular beauty and adventure opportunities.
“We’re excited to bring this unique project to life with partners who share our passion for the outdoors and adventure,” said Sarah Brown, spokesperson for Tourism Snowy Mountains. "With the Arc'teryx and Capital Brewing athlete team taking on this historic trek, highlighting not only their incredible athleticism but also the exceptional appeal of the Snowies Alpine Walk."
"The Snowies Alpine Walk ventures through some of my favourite parts of the National Park, it was an absolute pleasure to guide the team through these and share some personal stories and insight into what makes these areas so special to me" said Hugh Newall.
Local businesses Stacks Pizza, Holly Go Lightly, ESS Coffee, Snowy Mountains Shuttles and Common Kosci are also supporting the project, coming together to underscore the region’s strong community spirit and pride.
"To hike all day along the beautiful Snowies Alpine Walk and then enjoy a cold Capital beer and burger at Holly Go Lightly was a real treat! I couldn't wipe the smile off my face" said Jonny Day
