Depot Brewery Opens In Artarmon In Sydney's North Shore

Sydney has a new brewery to call its own, with Depot opening in the suburb of Artarmon. The new operation joins a distillery too so it's safe to say there will be plenty to enjoy about the North Shore spot.

DEPOT BREWERY OPENS IN ARTARMON, OFFERING LOCALLY OWNED & BREWED LAGER, IPA AND LIMITED EDITION BREWS

Artarmon’s newest hospitality venue, Depot Brewery, is Sydney’s unofficial “Good Times HQ”. The 250-seater venue will be serving a bistro-style menu that includes house-brewed beer, wines, cocktails featuring house-distilled gin and vodka, and hand-dressed pizzas. Plus a playground to keep the kids entertained – Depot Brewery has something for everyone.

Depot Brewery’s name is an ode to the heritage local council depot right next door. Cradle Design was tasked with giving the space new life while staying true to its heritage, mixing a luxe bar set-up with industrial design features such as exposed brick and open rafters. The space is complete with large-screen TVs for live sporting events and six 3000L fermenters that sit opposite the bar; a looming reminder that Depot not only takes their beer seriously, they brew their own.

The Brewery is helmed by award-winning brewers Ady Fitter & Ian Roxburgh, who apply their expertise to produce a high-quality lineup from a mid-strength “Ultra Crisp” lager, a fruity “Pacific Pale” Ale, a strong-but-balanced  “IPA”, along with another 9 taps all on rotation.

Feeling peckish? Chef Will Baldwin has designed a menu that is equally delicious and approachable. With a distinguished 15-year career working across venues in London & Sydney, including The Butler, Bopp & Tone, and The Botanist, Will knows what makes a good feed. Depot’s menu features affordable pub favourites including a Chicken Caesar Salad, Depot Double Cheeseburger, and a selection of house-made pizzas including Classic Margherita and Peri Peri Chicken. A kids menu is available for anyone under 15 years old, including a variety of pizzas, fish & chips and chicken tenders, plus a choice of Ham & Cheese or Cheese & Tomato toasties for $8 available ‘til close.

Depot Brewery is the big brother to sister venue Buckle Cafe & Distillery, conveniently located right next door.  Where Buckle provides customers with a more traditional cafe-style experience – featuring expansive drink & food menus designed to take patrons from day to night – Depot is its more casual counterpart.

“When first conceptualising Buckle and Depot, we knew we wanted two venues that could offer customers something completely different and yet complementary,” says Depot Bar Manager, Campbell Starrett.

“Where Buckle is inspired by classic Aussie cafe culture, Depot leans more into Aussie pub culture. We’ve furnished the space with a mix of bar and dining tables to cater for customers who want to have a quick drink with mates and those who want to settle in for a longer catch-up.”

No Good Times HQ would be complete without a Happy Hour. From 5-6 pm every Monday to Friday, customers can enjoy pints of house ‘Core Range’ beers, Buckle Gin, Buckle Vodka, and by-the-glass wine for just $9. And what better place to enjoy than in Depot’s beer garden? With an abundance of lush greenery and natural light, it is the perfect place to unwind.
