For several years, Young Henrys have been supporting women and non-binary individuals who want to study brewing with their International Women’s Day Brewing Scholarship.
It's back for another year, with details of what's involved in 2005's scholarship in the media release below.
MEDIA RELEASE: YOUNG HENRYS CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY WITH THE RETURN OF THEIR ANNUAL BREWING SCHOLARSHIP
Young Henrys is thrilled to announce the return of its annual International Women’s Day Brewing Scholarship, now in its fourth year. In partnership with TAFE NSW and Blundstone Australia, the Inner West brewers are set out to open more doors for both women and non-binary individuals through their Young Henrys support packages being offered to those who take a bold step toward becoming brewers this year.
Any individual who identifies as female or non-binary and enrols in the Certificate III Food Processing and Micro Brewing Course (Brewing) at TAFE NSW will qualify. Young Henrys believes that the beer industry is richer and more vibrant when it reflects the diversity of its communities.
The Brewing Scholarship is more than a program; it is a celebration of those who dare to dream of making their mark in brewing. By supporting both women and non-binary individuals, the initiative aims to build an inclusive industry where everyone can thrive. This initiative seeks to create opportunities that leave a lasting impact.
Every female or non-binary brewer enrolling in the course will receive:
- Quarterly mentoring sessions with Young Henrys’ Head Brewer Jesse Searls and Head of Lab Rene Delmas.
- A pair of sturdy Blundstone boots, made for the rigors of the brewery floor.
- A bundle of Young Henrys goodies, including a t-shirt, hat, key ring and tote—a token of belonging to the brewing community.
- Course textbooks covered, easing the financial load so participants can focus on learning and growing.
International Women’s Day is not just a date on the calendar; it is a chance to reflect, listen and take meaningful action. This initiative is about more than brewing beer. It is about brewing change, fostering inclusion and celebrating the courage it takes to break into new territory.
