Have You Done A Rallings? is a fun campaign we're running in partnership with the team at Rallings Labels and Stickers. It's designed to shine a light on the good beer citizens going above and beyond who are found in every corner of the country.
You can nominate the people or businesses you think deserve to be celebrated in the form below. Every month, we'll showcase some of our favourites on The Crafty Pint Podcast and here on the site, with the winners receiving vouchers from Rallings.
Thanks to those who continue to nominate excellent good deeds from good beer people and businesses across Australia. If you missed our first winner, Buddy Brewing secured the inaugural Have You Done A Rallings? title for their support for a mental health fundraiser.
For round two, we're staying in Queensland and shouting out Russell Steele. Many in the Brisbane and wider Queensland beer community will likely know Russell well, with the local the founder of Easy Times Brewing in Woolloongabba. Despite being busy with his own beer business, Russell is a constant source of advice for Queensland breweries.
Sabrina Kunz from the IBA nominated Russell for being an "unwavering force in dealing with complex licensing issues that affect breweries on a day to day basis".
His own background in liquor licensing means Russell is often a willing sounding board and guide for breweries as they wander through - and often get stuck in - red tape.
Sabrina adds:
"He has attended parliamentary inquiries and pushed back on the Office of Liquor and Gaming, not just for a particular brewery but for all Queensland breweries. Russell attends every event to support independent brewers and the IBA and when he does, he often gives the rallying (Rallings?) cry to keep others motivated in fighting the good fight."
Alongside Russell, Will Tatchell was the latest honourable mention. Will runs Van Dieman Brewing but is actively involved in Australian Rules Football at the Tasmanian state level, where he's recognised as an outstanding local coach. Together with his mate Brad Cox-Goodyer spent 24 hours kicking goals to raise more than $13,000 for Ronald McDonald House.
Congratulations to all involved, and thanks to everyone who's nominated so far. Keeping getting those nominations in by filling out the form below!
