H100 Craft Beers of 2013

Australia’s longest-running people’s vote for the best craft beers of the year is back for a sixth time. The Hottest 100 Australian Craft Beers of 2013 poll opens today, with beer lovers able to select their top five via a voting form here on The Crafty Pint (see further down this page) or on Australian Brews News. The poll was kicked off by The Local Taphouse in 2008 and has grown in popularity ever since, with beers such as Feral’s Hop Hog, Little Creatures' Pale Ale and Stone & Wood’s Pacific Ale (as pictured above) taking out top spot in the past.

The results will be announced on Australia Day, with many of the country’s top beer bars hosting countdowns and pouring many of the top-rated beers. At launch, there are 1,319 beers from 164 breweries and brewing companies listed, although this is expected to rise as others are added via feedback.

Taphouse co-founder Steve Jeffares says: “The Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers poll is always a fun time as it encourages beer lovers to think about and discuss the great beers, new and old, we have enjoyed over the past year. And when the results are announced, it’s a great celebration of the awesome craft beer scene in this country."

If you’d like to know what beers tickled The Crafty Pint’s fancy in 2013, check out the final James Halliday’s Wine Companion Magazine of the year when it comes out on December 30. It features our wrap of the year in Aussie beer plus our pick of 50 beers that impressed from more than 50 local breweries.
