Fancy rubbing shoulders with 60 of the world's most respected brewers and beer judges over dinner? Then you can!
For the second year running, the organisers of the Australian International Beer Awards are hosting the Hop Off Dinner while judging is taking place in Melbourne.
They're taking over the Post Office Hotel in Coburg where you can join the likes of Matt Brynildson of Firestone Walker and John Keeling of British brewery Fullers as well as dozens of leading Aussie brewers for a beer and food pairing battle.
Over three courses, you'll be asked to vote for the best pairing chosen by two teams: one made up of AIBA judges, the other from the Good Beer Week festival team. They'll be selecting beers from the previous year's medallists and trophy winners that they think go best with each course and diners get to vote for their favourite after each course.
Last year, the vote went the way of the judges by two to one.
Once again, the dinner will be hosted by beer writer and advocate Peter Mitcham of Beer Blokes (AKA Professor Pilsner, pictured above left with Owen Johnston of Hop Products Australia).
AIBA Head Judge, Warren Pawsey says: “The Hop Off Dinner is the beer lovers' opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the biggest icons of the beer industry, as we celebrate good food and great beer. This is one night not to be missed for all beer and brewing enthusiasts.”
