In the 12 months since Renn and Jess threw open the doors to Blackman's Brewery in Torquay, they've brewed 15 different beers, won a Gold medal at the Australian International Beer Awards, collaborated with London's Camden Town Brewery, started sending their beer interstate and found time time to open a beer garden.
Now, with their first birthday looming, they want to celebrate and say thank you.
To do so, on August 1, they'll be hosting live tunes all afternoon and launching a big new beer, the Imperial Smoked Porter at the venue along with a birthday brownie. As a special momento, they're packaging just 150 bottles of the ISP which will be available on a first come, first served basis (email info@blackmansbrewery.com.au if you want one...).
Their birthday day also happens to fall on the same day as Bendigo on the Hop, so the birthday beer will make be making an appearance as part of the brewer's involvement in that moving festival.
