From its home in the heart of the Hunter Valley, Sydney Brewery has regularly picked up awards for its beers over the years.

If you want a hand in making that beer, currently the brewery has two roles that need filling: a packaging operator/brewer and a lab technician.

JOB DESCRIPTION: PACKAGING OPERATOR/BREWER

Sydney Brewery Hunter Valley has an opportunity for a Packaging Operator/Brewer to join the team which is based at Lovedale in the Hunter Valley NSW. The position would be permanent full time and would report directly to the head brewer.

The role of the Packaging Operator/Brewer would be to perform day to day brewery operations such as operation of packaging lines, cellar operations and Brewhouse operation.

The chosen applicant would be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Operation of the packaging lines (canning, bottling and kegging)
  • Tank and equipment cleaning
  • Cellar operations including cleaning, sanitation and product transfers
  • Filtration of product
  • Operation of Brewhouse
  • Performing quality control and maintenance tasks
  • Represent the company at various events

The ideal applicant would have:

  • Ideally relevant industry experience
  • A passion for quality beers and Cider
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team
  • Flexible to work around production requirements
  • Willingness to learn new skills

JOB DESCRIPTION: LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Sydney Brewery Hunter Valley has an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join the team which is based at Lovedale in the Hunter Valley NSW. The position would be permanent part time and would report directly to the head brewer.

The role of the laboratory technician would be to ensure that quality of the finished product is maintained throughout the process by ensuring that key quality parameters are measured, recorded and communicated.

The chosen applicant would be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Collection and management of samples according to the sampling plan
  • Standardized laboratory tests on in-process and finished beer, including wort and yeast
  • Micro sampling and testing of the beers and ciders at various stages of the process
  • Maintenance of QC data, equipment and SOP documentation
  • Stock control and ordering of laboratory consumables

Ideally the applicant will have the following skills and experience:

  • self-motivated with a strong quality focus
  • postgraduate experience desirable.
  • Experienced in microbiological techniques (cultural and molecular)
  • Understanding of the microbiology of food and beverage organisms
  • Able to work efficiently and with incredible attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
