Oktoberfest at Blackman's Brewery

Blackman’s Brewery is one of the latest additions to the Australian craft beer scene. Opened by brewer Renn Blackman and partner Jess Giudice (pictured), it combines microbrewery with beer garden and restaurant and is set to host its first Oktoberfest.

It’s an Oktoberfest in two parts as well: a sit down, multi-course feast and less formal all-weekend, beer-focused fun – both featuring the new, unfiltered Festbier lager.

The feast takes place on Saturday, October 18, and over three courses features all manner of good, Germanic stuff, starting with a litre stein filled with the Festbier and following up with the likes of wursts, pickles, pork shank, potato and herb dumplings, apple strudel and Blackman’s own sauerkraut and IPA custard (not on the same plate, obviously).

Tickets for that cost $85pp and can be booked by emailing accounts@blackmansbrewery.com.au or calling (03) 5261 5310. Dinner starts at 6pm.

Then, over the rest of the weekend you can tuck into $30 steins (you get to keep the glass) and a selection of German nibbles whenever you like.

Lederhosen and dirndls encouraged.

Blackmans is at 26 Bell Street, Torquay.
