With one of their brewers returning home to Germany, there's an opening to join their brewery crew in Cheltenham.
JOB DESCRIPTION: BREWER
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety:
- Adhere to safety procedures in brewery operations
- Communicate safety policies to all employees and stakeholders including induction procedures where warranted
Stock Management:
- Ensure timely and regular stocktakes and accurate system representation of stock levels
- Execute movement and/or storage of finished goods stock including organising third party logistics lifts as required
- Receive raw and packaging material stock as ordered and check to ensure accuracy and quality of receipted goods
- New Product Development
- Input into beer recipes including keeping abreast of market trends and brewing processes
- Complete test batches as required
- Assist with ancillary processes including barrel-ageing
Lead packaging processes:
- Lead and oversee canning line operation including:
- Labelling, filling and palletising of finished product
- Manage canning line staff during shift including strict adherence to safety policies
- Manage setup of canning line including sanitisation procedures
- Manage packaging area clean up including bottler CIP
- Clean and fill kegs as required
- Manage stock storage of packaged product post canning process
Cellaring of beer:
- Complete gravity, pH and temperature measurements and log activity
- Carbonate beers
- Yeast off tanks
- Dry hopping
Manage brewing processes:
- Follow recipe and directions as required
- Clean in place and sanitise fermenter and/or brewhouse and heat exchanger
- Pitch yeast in accordance with recipe
- Log all activity as required
Maintenance and Quality Assurance Management:
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures for brewing and packaging
- Maintain clean brewery area
- Maintenance tasks as identified ongoing
- Support brewery lab tasks including:
- Yeast cell counts / viability assessment
- Yeast brink and yeast repitching schedule
- Sensory reviews of beers with core management team
