JOB DESCRIPTION: HEAD BREWER (VIC)
Napoleone Brewers need a new head brewer to lead their operation in the Yarra Valley.
Leading the production team the successful candidate will be required to work flexible shifts and need established skills in brewing, cellaring, quality control, keg cleaning and filling, bottling line operation, recipe development, staff management and public speaking. This is very much an opportunity for someone looking to put their stamp on a brewing operation.
The ideal candidate:
You will come with a passion for craft beer and a sound knowledge of the technical aspects of brewing including a sound knowledge of real ale production and traditional lager brewing including decoction mashing. You will integrate well into a team but need the ability to work independently and unsupervised. You will have a suitable brewing qualification or over 5 years in the brewing industry. You will have developed skills in repairs and maintenance and general operation of the full brewing process from raw materials to packaging.
Your success in this role would be enhanced by having:
- Strong personal and team leadership skills
- Relevant university qualification or equivalent industry experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet KPIs on production targets, record keeping, and brewery house-keeping.
- A good knowledge of the traditional brewing process including lager production
- A strong knowledge of recipe development and technical brewing
- A good level of literacy with excel and ordering
- Experience with running and fixing machinery.
