Is there a more iconic duo than Pilsner malt and Saaz hops? The Mario and Luigi of lager land, this timeless tag-team is pretty hard to beat and never gets old.
It’s this classic Euro combo that Hopsters have employed for their core range lager. To make it, the inner-west co-op hosted a homebrew competition with Wally (member #745) taking out the title. We assume he now gets carried around on a royal litter at Hopsters – or at least scores the odd free schooner.
Pouring a bright, light gold, Wally’s lager deftly blends the subtly honeyed sweetness of the malts with the heady herbaceous spice of the noble hop. Buoyed by a medium-to-high carbonation, this tried-and-true brew is too easy to drink and disappears all too soon.
