There’s an even darker side to Tar Barrel Brewery & Distillery’s Process Porter than you might suspect. The beer is a tribute to the 15 men from the local footy club who drowned off Mornington in 1892 when their boat - Process - capsized on the way back from a game in Mordialloc. It remains one of Australia’s worst boating tragedies and monuments to that moment can be found in the brewery’s hometown.
This beery monument is rich and filled with dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla notes, with the last of those seemingly enhanced by Sabro hops while a roastiness that runs across the palate helps bring about a dry finish.
