Queensland has been hogging a lot of the limelight in the beer world recently – and quite right too.
The Sunshine State may have been late to the party when it came to embracing the world of better beer but, once it got a taste, there's been no holding it back.
While it's often been the success of the state's breweries that been the focus of much coverage, you don't build a beer scene without the people, bars and community around them.
If you've spent any time in and around the beer scene in South East Queensland, you'll know how much fun it is – equal parts warm, welcoming, quirky, fun, colourful and, at times, downright daft.
If you haven't, then there's no better time than March 2019. For one, it sees the return of the annual "celebration of damn good beer" that is Brewsvegas. And, for the first time, the successful Beer InCider festival is running in spring too.
This year's beer week features 100 events at more than 50 venues, made up of a range of free and ticketed events covering all bases, from those catering to beer dorks and foodies, to newbies and froth fiends.
As the organisers put it: "There's only one way to describe Queensland's beer scene in 2018. Epic. Numerous brewery openings, great new bars and bottle shops, AIBA champion small and medium breweries. Hottest 100 #1, IBA champion small brewery. Yeah, we're a bit late to the party – but now we're carving up the dance floor with our own unique movies."
The Crafty Pint will be involved once more, hosting Pint of Origin at nine venues during the festival, while Brewsvegas welcomes the Royal Queensland Food & Wine Show to host their beer awards on March 11.
The program is available in venues and online at www.brewsvegas.com from February 1 so you can start planning your adventure.
Will confirm details of any Crafty Cabal paddling string the week as the festival approaches. Before then, you can snap up tickets for The Great Brewsvegas Pool Party on February 9 here.
When: March 14 to 24, 2019
Where: Brewsvegas, baby!
Beer InCider's March edition takes place on March 9.
