Remember when Botany was just a colourless, flavourless transport hub? Remarkably, that was just five short years ago, and we know this because that's when One Drop Brewing opened its doors, ushering in an exciting new era of beer for the suburb that has seen its influence stretch far, far beyond its borders.
To celebrate the milestone, join them on February 3 as they host a typically epic party featuring all manner of treats to satisfy your senses.
Things kick off in earnest at 1pm when they begin pouring a free keg of Botany Bay Lager, just one of 20 beers they'll have pouring on the day; they're keeping the full list hush-hush for now, but you can have faith that it'll be sufficiently special.
They'll have a happy hour – "the happiest hour", they reckon – from 6-7pm featuring $7 pints of lager and hazy pale ale. There'll be giveaways every hour on the hour between 3pm and 8pm where you can pick up mixed beer gift packs, glasses, and merch; to enter, just buy a beer at the bar and you'll score a raffle ticket.
They'll have live music from Toru from 4-7pm, food from the Burgerhead food truck on site all day, then at 6pm is the cherry on top of the birthday cake as they host the grand opening of the newest addition to the business, the Side Piece Gin Bar.
Given it's likely to be a busy one they're not taking bookings, so just head on down when you're feeling the vibe.
