For a third successive year, the arrival of summer in the 2042 postcode will be heralded by the sights and sounds of the Newtown Street Party.
Put together by longtime local collaborators Young Henrys and The Courthouse Hotel ('The Courty' as it's less formally and far better known), the festival on December 7 will transform Eliza Street into a swollen alley of music and beer – in a good way.
The musical lineup is long and eclectic, featuring the likes of headliners Caitlin Hartnett and the Pony Boys, Velvet Trip, Good Pash, The Melodrones, Maia Toakley, The Soul Movers, JJ Geary and the Tennessee Three, DJ Murray Cook, and more to be announced closer to the date. Regardless of the genre you’re into, there’s bound to be something to get you moving.
As the spiritual home of Young Henrys’ flagship Newtowner beer (the venue was the first venue to pour the beer), there’ll be plenty of the frothy stuff flowing from the Courty's courtyard and pop-up bars dotted around the street. There’ll also be food stalls aplenty, with several much-loved Inner West chefs sorting out the catering; think porchetta rolls by The Bank Hotel, burgers by The Courty, and woodfired pizzas by Public House Petersham.
Entry will be via donation at the door, with all proceeds going directly to the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre.
