Murray's Easter Blues and Chocolate Brews

The Easter weekend at Murray's Brewery has become a much-loved local affair. The Port Stephens brewer traditionally puts on a weekend festival packed with live blues music, activities for kids, a special menu in its restaurant, brewery tours and they always stump up with an Easter-themed ale.

This year they're taking a break from the popular spiced ale and have opted for a Chocolate Easter Egg beer made with chocolate malts, cocoa nibs and vanilla bean. A special meal has been created to match it - a wince-inducing Southern fried chicken, cheese and maple bacon donut sandwich - "not for the faint-hearted", we've been warned!

For kids, there's plenty on offer with the following taking place:

  • Giant Easter egg hunt
  • Cupcake decorating
  • Easter-themed arts & crafts
  • Bunny petting
  • Face painting
  • A VIP visit from the Easter bunny

All you need to join the fun is a gold coin donation. All proceeds, along with those from a 'kindness keg', will go to Mem's Soul Food Recipes to Life program to assist young disengaged girls in the region.

All of this will be happening to the smooth sounds of the blues, with Norm Bakker performing a blues-inspired Elvis Show on Easter Saturday while on Sunday the stage will be graced by swampy blues band Catfish Soup. Both concerts are free.

To help get you to the venue and back safely, a brewery bus is running on both Saturday and Sunday, but bookings are essential and can be made by contacting 4982 6411 or emailing greatbeer@murraysbrewingco.com.au

Murray's has undercover facilities so everything's likely to go ahead - rain, hail or shine.
