Lawnside Leisure was started by two mates who, in 2020, realised it was time for them to start something new.

As they get ready to launch, they're looking for someone to join them in either a head brewer or brewing consultant role.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Head Brewer / Brewing Consultant

(Part Time, Contract)

We’re a new Brewing and Beverage Company on the market with big plans, started by two mates who have worked with some of the big guys to help them build some of Australia’s biggest beer brands.

We are looking for a Head Brewer / Brewing Consultant to help us go to market with our best foot forward: by helping us develop an absolutely ripper first beer. Initially, this scope will involve initial engagement with us on the product vision, recipe development, and overseeing the contract brewing process as we launch our first product to the market.

It’s a job that will probably take 2-3 days a month initially, so perhaps it’s something that you can dabble around with on the side of your day job. However, we’re looking for someone who is excited about the longer term with us, and work with us to develop a number of products and brands that we have in our pipeline. Someone who can grow with us, come along for the journey, and build into a full time role with us in our business.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop a range of beers with us, adding styles and flavours that everyone can enjoy. You’ll also have the opportunity to spread your wings outside of beer too, with a number of other beverages in the pipeline for the Australian market and for overseas markets as well.

It’s an exciting opportunity to have some fun and grow into a leading role with a company with big ideas and big aspirations. Big ideas and big aspirations that we want to tell you all about when we meet for a beer, but not in a job ad.

You’ll be a gun at what you do – an expert in brewing, classically trained, but with a strong understanding of contemporary styles and how the Australian palette is changing. You’ll be passionate about helping make the world a better place, from implementing sustainability measures, to preserving the best of our Australian values and traditions. And of course, you’ll be all over how to run and operate a brewery – from quality control, overseeing the brew, managing a team, and bringing best practice to our operations and those of our partners.

Key Tasks:

Our initial engagement will be laser-focused on three key aspects of our business:

  • Recipe and product development for our launch product; and later, additional variants to our product range.
  • Work with our contract brewing partners, to oversee the production process and be present on brew day, ensuring our partners meet and overdeliver on our standards and expectations.
  • Ensure the highest possible quality of our beers and products.

Skills and Experience required:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a commercial brewing environment and have an IBD Diploma in Brewing or similar brewing qualification.

Scope of Engagement:

  • We anticipate that this role will take around 2-3 days per month, and we will work to an agreed day rate with the successful applicant based on the time spent.
  • We are willing to be flexible around which days they are, within reason, to suit your requirements and needs for our initial engagement.

How to Apply:

To apply please send your application (a resume and a cover letter) to gday@lawnsideleisure.com

We’re also happy to answer more questions before you apply as well.

About Lawnside Leisure:

Lawnside Leisure is a company started by two mates and former colleagues. They worked together on a number of Australia’s largest beer and alcohol businesses, helping them grow their brands and market their products. During COVID, the guys decided the time was right to stop working for the man and start putting all of their knowledge into their own, fully owned, fully Australian business.
