Australian Brewery are based in Rouse Hill in Sydney's north-west and the brewery helped kick off the canning revolution that we are enjoying today.

Job Description: Brewer/Assistant Brewer 

The Australian Brewery, located in Rouse Hill, North West Sydney is looking to add one to two new members to our brew team. The Australian Brewery is capable of producing 1.2 million litres a year on our 4 vessel DME & HGM equipment and packing into kegs and 375ml cans with our DME keg washer/filler and Palmer 12/1 canning line.

The new brewer or assistant brewer:

  • MUST have some brewing experience (1+ years in commercial production brewery), and understands the brewing process from raw ingredients to packaging of finished goods.
  • A team player, and a great attitude to contribute to our workplace
  • Being mechanically minded is a bonus
  • High levels of organisation and time management, and awareness of what needs to be done next and what else is happening around you.
  • Capable of multi-tasking
  • Work with us for continual improvement of processes and product
  • Knowledge and interest in the craft/Independent beer industry 
  • Flexible with work schedule

Other desired attributes:

  • Formal brewing or other relevant tertiary qualifications would be advantageous.
  • NSW RSA
  • A forklift license is desired but not essential

Reports to senior brewer. Position and salary based on experience.

Job Description: Packaging Line Manager 

Australian Brewery are looking for a Packaging Manager to lead the packaging department of our production brewery in Rouse Hill North West Sydney. You will be responsible for leading the packaging team on our 12/1 Palmer canning line and DME keg washer/filler while adhering to strict quality and safety standards. A successful candidate will be able to juggle multiple priorities, keep the lines of communication open, and manage a functional team with a safety and quality first mentality, as well as lead by example, be organized, practice sanitary packaging procedures, carry out preventive maintenance, follow quality control protocols, have a strong mechanical aptitude and be an exceptional problem solver.

Responsibilities

Planning/Scheduling

  • Work with the brewing team to coordinate packaging schedules
  • Coordinate casual staff for packaging assistance
  • Review efficiency and consistency of packaging operations and be proactive about developing and implementing improvements

Packaging

  • Inventory management and procurement of all packaging materials
  • Operate, troubleshoot and maintain all packaging equipment
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of all equipment
  • Manage, train and hold accountable packaging team members with a focus on safety, quality and efficiency
  • Improve production efficiencies and yields
  • Minimise downtime on packaging equipment by implementing continuous improvement, preventive maintenance and problem solving
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for safety, CIP and packaging operations
  • Ensure all record keeping, SOPs and logs are clear and up to date
  • Work closely with cellar and brewing operations to ensure smooth product flow and the timely completion of the packaging schedule
  • Create and implement a maintenance plan for all packaging related equipment

Qualifications

  • Some experience beer packaging or packaging in a related industry
  • Experience with a canning-line is preferred
  • Forklift license and experience driving a forklift preferred
  • Knowledge of the fermentation process and a passion for the science of brewing
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in hot, cold and wet environments
  • Good spatial awareness (we get a lot done in quite a tight space!)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to recognize visual and audible cues signalling machinery performance issues 
  • Ability to delegate, lead the packaging crew by example and make difficult decisions when necessary 
  • Ability to lift 20+kgs regularly
