Job Description: Venue Manager

We are Bad Shepherd Brewing Co., a microbrewery and BBQ smokehouse restaurant located in the bayside suburb of Cheltenham. We’re passionate about the simple things in life, like craft beer, comfort food and great hospitality. 

To that end, we are seeking a hospitality all-rounder to join our leadership team to deliver genuine hospitality and service excellence while also meeting business goals. 

THE OPPORTUNITY

You will responsible for management of the entire venue, including leading service, rostering, budgets and financial reporting, procurement, staff training and events management, as well as maintaining exceptional levels of customer service.

In addition to being a natural people person who leads by example, we are also seeking someone who is financially savvy and aware of how to control operational costs from the ground level including wages, wastage and supplier relationships.

Reporting to the General Manager, you are responsible for but not limited to:

  • Oversee all operational requirements of the venue including on site marketing, maintenance, food and beverage service, sales and events, and cash management.
  • Accountability for achieving all revenue targets and having an agile approach to managing the business to ensure these targets are met.
  • Strictly adhere to and enforce all company policies to ensure the business is run effectively and efficiently.

WHO ARE YOU

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have minimum 3 years proven experience in a similar leadership role, with a current RSA
  • Be fully adept in rostering, training and staff development
  • Have strong commercial acumen
  • Have managed large teams
  • Be adept in financial performance monitoring and reporting, including budgeting, revenue generation, and cost control measures to achieve profitability targets  
  • Be approachable and engaging with a positive customer service attitude
  • Be able to work a full-time, rotating hospitality roster, including late nights
  • Have strong leadership and interpersonal skills
