Thunder Road Brewing has been releasing a well established core range and a regular roster of limited release beers from its Brunswick brewery since 2011. Right now, the brewery is after a quality manager to join the team.

JOB DESCRIPTION: QUALITY MANAGER

Thunder Road Brewing Co, is an Australian and International award-winning HACCP-certified craft brewer with home base located in Brunswick Victoria. We are after a professional, full-time Quality Manager with interest in innovative brewing and working in modern lab.

Key responsibilities:

  • Management of QMS and ensuring HACCP compliance of site
  • Management of all aspects of Quality Control and Quality Assurance
  • Day-to-day testing of raw materials, in-process testing, finished product testing and microbiological testing
  • Manage calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, maintain lab inventory
  • Handle customer complaints
  • Perform internal and GMP audits
  • Manage pre-requisite programs required for HACCP
  • Manage the approved supplier list and liaise with suppliers and perform Supplier Audits where required
  • Assist with continuous improvement in the brewery and lab
  • Maintain all paperwork associated with the QMS including SOP’s, batch records, monitoring records, cleaning records, calibration records and maintenance records
  • Perform verification activities as stipulated by the QMS
  • Deliver training to staff and maintain training matrix
  • Assist with product develop process
  • Technical liaise and review contract packaging operations
  • Participate in brewery upgrades and automation processes

Key attributes:

  • 3-5 years’ experience working in quality, preferably in manufacturing
  • Tertiary qualification in Science, Food Technology or similar
  • Externally provided HACCP training
  • Externally provided Internal Auditor training
  • Able to promote a quality culture in the brewery
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Strong desire to learn to brew or interest in brewing
  • Willingness to manage in a team environment

It would be adventurous for the right candidate to have current brewing experience or up-front knowledge of brewing. The position reports to the production manager and CEO.
