Media Release: Brewmanity & Coles Liquor Join In The Fight Against MND With A Brand-New Brew

Brewmanity Beer Co, the independent brewery that does good, has joined forces with Coles Liquor to launch the limited-edition Brewmanity Ice Cold Lager, to proudly support FightMND’s Big Freeze 10. The launch of the beer will see Coles Liquor donate more than $70,000 to the cause, in addition to sales of the special 10-year anniversary Big Freeze Beanies and in-store customer donations.

Coles Liquor and Brewmanity’s support of FightMND, will help raise awareness and fund vital research for Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Co-founded by AFL Hall of Famer and former  Melbourne Football Club Captain, David Neitz, Brewmanity Beer Co was a dream inspired by helping a mate, former Demons coach Neale Daniher in his battle against MND.

Brewed locally in South Melbourne, the thirst-quenching beer is made using 100% Australian grown malts and hops. With a moderate bitterness you’d expect from a classic Aussie lager, the beer has a hazy golden hue with notes of floral and citrus, and is now available exclusively at all Liquorland,  First Choice Liquor Market and Vintage Cellars stores nationally.

Coles Liquor Group, Chief Executive Michael Courtney said it’s an honour to be part of such an impactful initiative, deepening Coles’ long-term partnership with FightMND.

“It’s incredibly special to partner with Brewmanity and FightMND to encourage Aussies to fight the disease with action not words, in the famous words of Neale Daniher.

“In 2023, the first year of the partnership we fundraised more than $283,000 for FightMND, and we’re confident our efforts this year will take us to a new milestone. For our customers wanting to  make a difference, they can make a $2 donation or a donation to a sum of their choice at the checkout of our national Liquorland, First Choice Liquor Market and Vintage Cellars stores from  Wednesday 22nd May to Sunday 16th June,” said Michael.

“We’re also helping our customers don the famous blue Big Freeze Beanies by selling them in  select stores across the country for $25, with 100% of the proceeds going to FightMND.”

Brewmanity Beer Co co-founder, and AFL legend, David Neitz thanked Coles Liquor for supporting  FightMND’s mission, with every dollar raised getting us one step closer to finding a cure for MND.

“At Brewmanity we’re about good beer, good times, and good deeds and the Ice Cold Lager culminates just that. Our mission has always been simple, to produce quality beer and help raise  funds to fight the beast that is MND.

“We’re proud to push the boundaries of what traditional beer tastes like, and in the tenth year of the Big Freeze we’ve brewed a beer specifically suited for Neale. We know our latest brew will be  enjoyed by all Aussie punters while they don their Big Freeze 10 Beanies this winter,” he said.

FightMND General Manager, Partnerships, Ilana Goldman is encouraging Australians to support the fight against the disease any way they can.

“Every year we continue to be touched by the support of the Coles Group and their customers.  We’re grateful to be extending our strong relationship through the support of Coles Liquor,” said  Ilana.

“This year Coles Liquor customers can show their support for Big Freeze 10 by purchasing a Beanie from select stores across Australia. From Wednesday 22nd May until Sunday 16th June, customers  can also donate to FightMND at any Coles Liquor register.”

The launch comes as Brewmanity Beer Co opens Melbourne’s first rooftop brewery bar in South  Melbourne, where people can enjoy Brewmanity beers and Melbourne’s city skyline over three storeys.

The limited edition Brewmanity Beer Co Ice Cold Lager 4-pack is available for $14 online and in-store at Liquorland, First Choice Liquor Market and Vintage Cellars stores nationwide until Tuesday  18th June or while stocks last.

Coles Liquor supports the responsible consumption of alcohol and is a founding member of  DrinkWise (get the facts DrinkWise.org.au).
